We first stayed here in April 2012 when it was Mercure. In March 2013 we couldn't remember whether the foyer had changed, but certainly the rooms and hallways were exactly the same - newly refurbished and with very comfortable beds. We checked into room 110 with the keycard, and then began the most bizarre and traumatic turn of events we have ever experienced. First, my handbag appeared to have been stolen from the room, only to be replaced in the same position some time later, with absolutely no contents taken. We were so relieved, but thoroughly stressed out. We thought we were the victims of some weird joker. Then, a matter of minutes later, on checking, we discovered that our entire overnight belongings had disappeared. This was just beyond a joke. Meanwhile, the police had arrived and we were told to make a report at the local police station. Management could find no explanation. The only master keycard was in their possession. Mentally and physically exhausted, we went out for dinner. We arrived back at the hotel to find that all was well. Our overnight luggage had been found exactly where we had left it - in room 210 which we had entered by mistake, using our keycard for room 110. The whole nightmare experience stemmed from the fact that in this hotel some of the doors close properly all of the time, all of the doors close properly some of the time, but ALL of the doors do not close properly ALL of the time. Certainly, room 210 was not locked when we pushed it open after inserting our card, thinking we were in the correct room. Certainly, room 211, which we were offered as an alternative prior to leaving for dinner, was not locked, because we pushed it open without ever entering the keycard, which we reported to the desk. So just be aware that this could happen to you. There is obviously a flaw with the door installations. We hope management will take our suggestion to heart and ensure that all the room doors are checked to be securely locked before handing out keycards. « less

After a 560 mile trip, I was really impressed by what greeted me at the Mercure / Best Western Plus at Evreux. I booked the hotel because the price was good, and the location suited me for my trip home to England from France, but initially wondered where I was staying, as I couldn't find the Mercure anywhere. I asked at reception in the Best Western and they confirmed I was in the right place after a change of ownership in August. I've read previous reviews of this hotel, and all I can say is that Best Western must have gone to town on it since acquiring it from Accor. The room was big, there was a great espresso machine in the room. The free wifi is about 10 times quicker than my home wifi, and unlimited. I downloaded a film from iTunes in 20 minutes! All of the decor is fresh and new, and the bed was a fantastically comfortable king. 32 inch tv with 70 channels, I didn't try the restaurant, but the room service was prompt, delivered with a smile and the food was great. If you previously were disappointed, I'd urge you to reconsider the revamped hotel. « less

We booked the hotel online well prior to our trip to Evereux and on paper it looked like a good hotel and a good deal - supposedly half price. Unfortunately in reality it was neither.
As far as the price was concerned, it was discounted but nowhere near the claimed amount - there was a a big sign behind the registration desk with the normal price shown and we paid well more than half. We have never had this sort of a problem with an Accor promotion previously so we put that down to an honest mistake.
Our first problem was finding the hotel - the booking voucher had a name and a street but no number or further information. And we found some street signs indicating the general direction of the hotel named on the voucher. But we couldn't find the hotel for some time. Apparently the name had recently been changed and all of the old signage had been taken down but no new signage erected. It might have been nice if they had let us know that the hotel had a new name (we were looking for the old name which was on the voucher) and it might also have been useful to have left some signage up (so the hotel could actually be found) until the new signage was available - otherwise it is just another white building on a long street. The room was large and the fittings were in good order. There were tea and coffee making facilities which were well stocked. The bed was large and comfortable and the bathroom towels were of wonderful quality. There was meant to be a mini-bar. Whilst there was a fridge in the room, there was nothing in it aside from a bottle of water - not a mini bar by any stretch of the imagination.
The room appeared stuffy and we couldn't get the air conditioning to work. An enquiry with the reception desk revealed that the air conditioning was off (intentionally or otherwise) throughout the whole hotel. Normally this would not be a major problem but it was 40 degrees outside that day.
We tried opening the window but there was a creek/storm water drain running alongside with lots of flying insects. Instead of sleeping that night we slowly cooked in our own juices.
Probably one of our worst ever experiences in a hotel and definitely not what we expect from a brand like Accor. « less
