Our property is located at the entrance of the wildlife refuge and beach. All of our rooms are quite spacious and have private balconies (many with a view of the wetlands, channel, and Assateague Lighthouse). We provide a complimentary hot breakfast with Belgian waffles, sausage, biscuits, eggs, fruit, juice, cereal, bagels, muffins, danish, milk, and coffee. Each room has 2 queen size beds or 1 king bed with a refrigerator, coffeemaker, hairdryer, iron/board, expanded cable and HBO, and complimentary issue of USA Today. Our property has a picnic ground, outdoor tropical pool, bicycle racks, and guest laundry. Come and enjoy "Elegance at Nature's Door".

We have stayed at the Best Western Chincoteague Island many times and it seems it just keeps getting better and better. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, very clean, and well laid out. The staff is as very friendly and helpful as can be. And the location is ideally situated for access to the Wildlife Refuge and the town of Chincoteague. They have a great picnic area behind the hotel in a shady grove of trees which we find to be an ideal place to relax and enjoy some of the great seafood from the area, picnic style. And, with a nice selection of breakfast fare, it generally is quite a bargain. As far as I am concerned, it is THE only place to stay on the Island. « less

My husband and I consider this BW our sure thing quick get-a-way spot.We love to ride our bikes around the wildlife refuge and this BW is the closest hotel, motel, or B&B to the refuge. We are always well-treated and well taken care of here: comfy beds, very clean rooms, and a light early morning breakfast that is perfect for cyclists who want to grab a bite and get going. We lock our bikes to the rack out back and they are very safe there. « less

I have stayed at this Best Western before with nothing but a positive stay. This time though was during the week. I would say they were only booked 1/4 full. Some reason they had to put someone above us that had to pound the floor with heavy foot steps up till midnight to wake up at 5 and had listen to the jerk in the morning. No reason BW had to stack people that night and I got a terrible night stay due to the jerk that was above us.. Note I purchased 2 rooms that night being i paid my Son and his wife for the night. Then I get to deal with a bad night experience due to BW thinking they had to stack an empty hotel. No reason they could not have seperated rooms for guests that night,, « less

Across the street from the McDonalds, this Best Western is the closest hotel to the wildlife refuge and beach. HINT: if you're 62 or over and don't have a Senior Pass you can get one for $10 at the entrance to the refuge and entry into National Parks and Forests will be free (for up to four people) for life. The sunrise over the marshes in the refuge was great. No hiking involved - park along the road about 1/10 of a mile past the first left turn in the road after you enter the refuge. Its best if you get there about a half hour before sunrise. Ducks and suspected osprey with a fish in my sunrise picture made for a great picture. You can go to the beach to get a sunrise shot, but there are no dunes or grasses to frame your picture, so there's nothing to distinguish your beach sunrise. But if you're there for two or more mornings - go for it. If you want to get a sunrise picture from Snow Goose Pool, you will need to walk about 3/4 of a mile going east on the road to get to a good vantage point. Or you can try the observation deck at the pool, but it is 1/2 a mile away from the parking lot. Assateague is known for its ponies and we saw them both days we were there. Saw at least half a dozen different kinds of birds and a Sik deer. Breakfast is served from 0600 to 1000, but I was able to make a sausage egg sandwich before six, wanting to get to the refuse before the sun rose. The next day, I grabbed breakfast after I got my sunrise pictures. This hotel has one of the longest breakfast periods that I have ever seen. The best view of the light house is from the third floor. We were on the east end. I suspect the rooms on the west end may provide a better view. You can see the lighthouse after you turn left toward the refuge, but there's no place to stop along the road. I think all of the rooms at the hotel are entered from the north end and go through to the south end. All of the balconies or patios are on the south end. The hotel has bikes but there is a small fee for them. There is a bike rental place across the street to the west of the McDonalds. You can also rent scooters (not sure where the rental place is). Watch your speed. While I was there (only two days) I saw a car pulled over. « less
