Ocean Beach Club is a shining star of the high-end move northward along the Virginia Beach oceanfront. This area also features countless fun and culturally diverse alternatives to a day at the beach. The Virginia Aquarium is two miles from the property and the Ocean Breeze Waterpark is two-and one-half miles away. Surfing, parasailing, jet skiing, sport fishing, scuba diving and boardwalk strolls are all right here in Virginia Beach. Fabulous boutiques are right across the street from the Ocean Beach Club, and three blocks down is more great shopping at 31Ocean, alongside the oceanfront King Neptune Park, featuring two stages and a huge fountain.

We are Interval Exchange members and had booked a 2 bedroom. You cannot request any sort of ocean view or oceanfront room until the day you check in. The day we checked in, the DH requested an ocean view or oceanfront room. The desk clerk made a pretense of checking, but then put us in the original room she had already made the call for to see if the room was ready. Our 2 bedroom smells like old musty towels, faces a dumpster and an old hotel on the city side. It is a 1 bedroom with our children in another studio room beside us although it is unlikely we could hear them if they called out to us. The room is clean but stinks. Will not stay here again and cannot recommend. « less

This hotel was reccended to us for our family that came into town for my wedding. They made so many mistakes with no apology. This was the most expensive cheep hotel I have ever stayed in, they had no customer service and didn't care if you had a great stay. First they didn't have a room for my dad when he checked in, they said his confirmation he had in his hand didn't matter and it took over 30 minuets to get them checked in. The room that was given to husband and myself was dirty when we went to the room. They checked us into a room that wasn't cleaned after the guests before is checked out. My mother and my sister both had rooms there as well. I blocked my rooms so we could all stay close together, but the rooms we were given were all on different floors. There is no cell phone service in any of the rooms there but if you use the room phone to make local calls you will be charged an outrageous amount! Over all the service was aweful and no one was sorry in the least bit. After all was said and done I'm very disappointed that I had my family stay there and I'm upset the amount we paid for our rooms, I could have stayed in a cheep motel and had better service than what was given there. I will be sure to let my friends and family know not to book the Ocean Beach Club, they will get better value anywhere else. « less

Overall we had a nice stay. We stayed this past weekend where our bride and groom had a room block. The location is awesome, really convienent right there on the 'strip' with several places to eat and shop close by and within walking distance. The grounds are nicely landscaped, the building and rooms are in good condition and modernly decorated. We had reserved a 'ocean view' room, not realizing that this does not mean oceanfront. Unfortunately they are building a hotel right next door and that was our actual view. We had a suite, the kitchen was cute and nicely appointed and my favorite part of the room was the double vanity. The actual bedroom was quite small, but we were busy anyway with a ton to do.
We didnt sleep very well:(. The construction started early on SAt around 7a we started hearing the crane, but worse was the rain that came around 5am that morning. The rattling of the gutters outside of our room was this craziest thing I had ever heard. It sounded like rocks were being knocked off the roof and falling through the gutters. The pillows are the mushy down type, not our personal preference so unfortunately our childless get away wasnt so restful. Their fitness center is one of the nicest I have used when traveling. No free weights but plenty of cardio machines and nautilus equipment and the view is awesome.
The 21+ pool/spa was a nice little retreat. The Martini Bar there in The Oceanaire was very good too- great Martini list and helpful bartenders. It was quite cool here in mid-May:( and unfortunately the entire outdoor pool area is shaded much of the day (afternoon) so that is a huge bummer. We dined a few times at the outdoor cafe Tortuguas and the food was okay but convienent. Per standard resort prices, drinks, coffee and food are a bit overpriced.
We would go back after construction was completed next door. « less

We've stayed at the Ocean Beach Club twice before, and were utterly disappointed this time. To be fair, the pool area is the best on the Boardwalk. But that's where it ends. The Internet connection was so poor as to be nonexistent, the rooms were filthy and full of bugs, and housekeeping did not come to empty trash or leave fresh towels. The beds and pillows were so uncomfortable that it actually HURT to sleep. This - for over $400/night????? We were completely ripped off!
Note: OBC is part of a timeshare group, and people are paraded around with "free" tours and high-pressure sales. We just book it as a hotel room and ignore the sales people. I mentioned these problems to the manager, who seemed unmoved.
Bottom line: With new management and better housekeeping, OBC could be the best at Virginia Beach. Right now, it's a flea trap dressed up like a first-class hotel. « less

We booked this room as an "Exchange". We checked in at 5:05 pm, since they list check-in at 5 pm. We were told there were very few rooms left (heads-up, check-in early). We had exchanged for a studio and were told that a "handicap room" was assigned to us. We agreed since we didn't have much choice, but neither of us have any disability. It was different from any of the floorplans, the kitchen was actually in the bed area, no closet, just 1/2 a wardrobe. It faced the street, was really dark and the windows didn't open so there was obviously no balcony. We have traveled for 4 decades and have only complained about a room twice, so we really aren't picky. We requested a change the next day and received a room that was the normal studio floorplan and had a sliding door which opened and a balcony. We didn't care that it overlooked the construction site and had no ocean view, at least we could get fresh air.
The property is nice, the indoor pool for 21+ is very nice (located next door) and the outdoor pools are pretty good too. However, the only nice day we had they resurfaced the pool deck of the children's pool, so it was closed and the remaining deck was incapable of accomodating the crowds trying to enjoy the sun. The pool is close to the building so by noon it is totally shaded--a good thing in July, but chilly in April. As for the construction --- we were fine with it 7 am to 5 pm, it can be expected---the shocker came at 2:15 AM when they began pouring cement......they have no restrictions for commercial properties. Needless to say, there was no sleeping that night! The boardwalk is nice and the hotel property is located right there. The Sheraton north just a few buildings has a great happy hour daily....wonderful view, great drinks, we highly recommend going. The weather wasn't good, but that happens, the parking deck is very convenient just a short walk away and reasonably priced through the hotel. We probably wouldn't go back, just too much hassle. « less
