This hotel is located just a five minute drive from Exhibition Park. The king bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. The sofa bed was moderately comfortable, but they didn't have any extra blankets which made for a cold sleep for our daughter. The breakfast was OK, not much selection for fruit other than apples and no hot choices during the weekend. There were eggs (very salty) and sausage during the week They only give you two coffees per room for your entire stay. You have to go to the breakfast room to get morning coffee or purchase more keurig cups for $1 each. . Pool area was nice and there were free DVDs to watch. « less

Thank you for mentioning our comfortable beds and clean rooms as we want to make sure all our guests have a comfortable stay! We appreciate your comments with regards to extra blankets which means we must look into getting a few more spare as it is true some find the spare blanket in the closet for the pull out sofa beds to not be sufficient. I do apologize that the oranges were not available during the morning as we usually have apples and oranges out for the fresh fruit and we keep the hot waffle maker out 7 days a week to help add to the expanded continental breakfast. The in room single brewing Keurig is a new program we have just implemented and for now we offer 2 complimentary k-cups . We are very glad you enjoyed the free DVD movies and the pool.

My brother and his wife have been there for 2 mos and really enjoys it a lot. It is a terrific location with lot's of places to eat and shopping close by. Would certainly recommend it to anyone. We love this place:)... we are from New Brunswick and evey year we have to go to Nova Scotia for my husband medical appointment. Yes we can stay closer and downtown Halifax, but this hotel is only a 10 minute drive away and we find it a very "homey" type of atmospher. And the rooms we love love love them. We have also found that though these employees must see people come and go, I always just send them an email simply stating we are returning customers and down again for another check up at hospital, and because of that reason always go out of their way to give us a great rate:) We love this hotel, period! « less

We stayed for two nights (5 & 6 Feb 2013) midweek in the winter. Being close to Highway 103 and the junction of 103 with 102, the hotel is very convenient for visiting Halifax and vicinity. The hotel is at the edge of a large business park (Bayers Lake) with small businesses and light industry in the part near the hotel, and a big-box shopping area a short drive to the other end of the business park. It is necessary to drive just about anywhere as there is little of interest within walking distance. The walls of each room seem very well sound proofed, so exterior noises are well muffled. Parking is ample and free.
The rooms are small but well laid out and have all the necessary conveniences, including a huge HDTV, microwave oven, and small refrigerator. As some have noted, the carpets and drapes are very tired looking. Nonetheless, the room and other areas are very clean and reasonably well maintained.
Service is excellent with professional, friendly, helpful, and enthusiastic staff. The manager provided much very helpful information via email before we arrived (or even booked) while we were planning our visit.
There is free wireless Internet (with a rather odd login and password system).
A plus for us is the hotel allows pets and the staff members seem genuinely to enjoy greeting each companion, with tiny treats and a plastic baggie for the dog(s). There are many places around the building where dogs can be walked, including trails a short distance away where they may run free. The ground-floor rooms have their own individual double sliding doors so guests in those rooms can take their pets in and out without entering the lobby and guests' can park their vehicles in front of the doors.
Breakfast is reasonably good, with very decent coffee, good bagels, scrambled eggs, juice, etc. (The orange juice ran out quickly, so my spouse had a glass but there was none by the time I tried.) The small muffins are very cake-like with very sweet frosting; perhaps kids will like them. « less
