The doors of Clyde Hotel first opened in downtown Portland in summer of 1912, serving to the clientele of the warehouses, paper mills, brewers and many more, know as a luxury hotel of those times it accommodates various members of the elite of the time. Designed by the architectural firm of MacNaughton and Raymond is noteworthy as the only hotel designed by the firm which is extant in Portland
In the center of downtown, one of the best intact examples of a Commercial styles the 96-room hotel owned by the Wood-Wortman family contains the charm brought from Europeans and remains evident in the hotel’s service.
Reopened in March 2000, the restoration of the forgotten happened with the views of the Zaver family, panels of rare Cuban mahogany, Victorian mosaic tile, claw-footed bathtubs and hand-sanded walls were just the beginning of the coming back of a Gem of a find. Added to the National Register of Historic Places, now the Boutique European Style Hotel is back to serve the best of our patrons in this magnificent cityscape.
