Great location but rooms need updating. You get what you pay for but next time ill be splurging for a nicer hotel. We asked for a king, got two doubles. The room reeked of smoke even though it was a nonsmoking room. Looks like they are putting work into the hotel so hopefully the make it nicer. « less

An internet search revealed that there are a lot of hotels that offer "pre-cruise" packages out of Charleston. We were looking for a place to stay the night before (so we don't miss the boat...literally) and we could leave the car without having to pay the $15/day parking fee at the port authority. If you go to do the same, choose carefully because many of them will do that for you but you're on your own getting to the ship. Even worse, some will get you to the ship but you're on your own getting back! If you climbed up there, you can see the cruise ship from the roof of The Rodeway Inn Mount Pleasant. The room was a little pricey for the condition of the hotel (a bit run down and dated but clean) but the convenience made it worth it. They got us a cab exactly when we asked for it and even had it waiting at the dock at the end of the cruise. The desk people were great and they even rescued my son's temperpedic pillow he forgot in the room. We called from the ship before it left and they had it waiting at the desk when we returned. Call them and ask for the "Stay and Sail Package" if this is what you're looking for! « less

Although the price is good, you get what you pay for! There was no hot water for a shower, the room needs to be updated, the heat does not regulate, outlets are loose in the wall, the smoke detector looks like it is 50 years old (makes me wonder if it really works), mold is growing in the tub, and the room is generally dusty. We were visiting Charleston before our cruise and needed a place that would allow us to leave our vehicle. The hotel does offer this service (for a price) but dealing with all of the other things makes it worthwhile to just pay the fee at the cruise parking deck. Also, our reservation was not as we had requested. We asked for a king room but had to take a double room instead. Keep driving! « less

My mother and I traveled to Charleston and stayed at this facility. The location is great, just a short drive across the bridge to the historic district. The staff was very helpful and courteous; the evening desk clerk replaced the dead batteries in the TV remote, said for us to call him if we had further trouble with it and he would come to our room to fix it, rather than have us make another trip to the office. The hot breakfast bar was a huge plus, with a good variety of foods to choose from. The rates are quite reasonable, much less than the cost of staying downtown. This is obviously an older facility, but it's clean, comfortable and well-maintained. I would stay here again, & would recommend it for budget-conscious travelers who prefer to spend their money sightseeing and enjoying Charleston. « less
