The good stuff first. Outstanding staff at check-in and at breakfast. The location is close to the WVU stadium; walking would not be an issue. Very close to Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre. Applebee's next door. A few cons, but not to put this Hampton down; Room was OK, but needed at little more cleaning. The Hotel can be a bit hard to enter from the street at rush hour or at busy times. Small seating area at breakfast. No pool. All being said I would stay at this location when visiting Morgantown again, as it is better than others I have stayed at in the area.. « less

This was my second trip to Morgantown. A year ago, I stayed at the Travelodge. That time was the worst hotel experience I had ever had. The Hampton Inn exists in a different galaxy from that one. Easy to find vs. where in the world are we. Nice environs, restaurants within a block, a paved parking lot without potholes, rooms that are clean and smell clean; opposite of a year ago. Decent complimentary breakfast. Helpful, friendly staff. And warm cookies when you check in! « less

This was a one-night get-away for my wife and I, and it was a little bit of a disappointment. Let's start with the positive. The location is in the heart of the action--accessible to everything. Applebee's is right next door; you're basically on the Evansdale campus of WVU, and the WVU Hospital is immediately across the street (convenient for us since we had a friend who was hospitalized there at the time). I was immediately impressed with the cleanliness of the facility, and the desk clerk (while not overly welcoming or friendly) was very efficient. He did offer us a discount if we would change our reservation to two queen beds--I told him I preferred to pay extra for the king (that was a mistake). I also appreciated the fact that they posted signs stating that a remodeling project was about to begin--new carpet is on the way! Actually, I saw nothing wrong with the current carpet--it's a shame they don't save the expense and replace the mattresses. Perhaps it was just our room, but the mattress was horribly uncomfortable. I commented to my wife that it should be donated to one of the local frats to burn--save a couch! We also realized (around 4:00 am) that our alarm clock was not functioning. And the shower head was a bit outdated for this level of motel. As for the decor, I loved it! As you walked in the door, the room was immediately comforting and inviting. The quality of the towels, sheets, and comforter was excellent! The pillows werent' to my liking, but few are. I liked the unique layout of the room...very open and spacious. But again, that bed!! I would not have been surprised if I were in a cheap roadside motel from the 1970s--for a Hampton Inn, poor mattresses are unforgivable.
As for the location, you're in the heart of town next to the fire department and hospital. In other words, it's loud. This is not a place to go if you want peace and quite. For a business trip, I'd consider staying here again (after inspecting the mattress). Unfortunately, for a personal couples getaway, there are much better options. « less

Testimonials: Why use Hotel Planner?
"It was so nice to just put up what I wanted and you contacted the hotel for me. I had spent hours trying to find hotels for my wedding and this was so much easier. Thanks!" B.M. - Anaheim Hills, CA
"By the way, I was very pleased with your site's service! It turned out that our group got a better room price reservation at a comparable hotel to the one we were considering. Since our small jazz band doesn't really have any budget to speak of, price was an important consideration and thanks to your service we were able to save money without sacrificing on the quality and amenities of the hotel. Thanks again! We'll be using you again, I'm sure, for future trips." D.R. - Auburn, WA
