I live in North Palm Beach, FL, in a one-bedroom apartment. So when my mom who lives in Orlando comes to visit, she prefers to stay just up the street at the Super 8 on U.S. 1 and Anchorage.
She awakes much earlier than I do and coffee and a basic breakfast are awaiting her that are included in the price of the room. She says sleeping is great--quiet, blacked-out curtains, comfortable bed, etc.--the folks there keep the room clean, and because the location is literally 5 minutes away by car, all is well with the world.
The rate has creeped up quite a bit since the first time she stayed, which is understandable because of the reasons I've stated above. If we can continue to keep it in the $50s per day, we'll continue to put my mom up at this location. If the rate does rise into the $60s or beyond, that might encourage us to check out other options. In the North Palm area, rooms at finer hotels start at $75ish per night.
However, if the kind manager at the Super 8 on U.S. 1 and Anchorage continues to work with us as he has, I'll pay $50-something dollars all day long to put my mom up. « less
