My husband and I stayed at the Blackfin Resort for one night on our way to Key West and I wish we could have stayed longer. We could have stayed out on the hammock for days! The little beach there is peaceful and clean. It was as if it was our own private beach for two. We would love to come back here with a group of friends because they have grills and seating areas around the property that would be great for a small party. Even though the rooms, pool and beach are far away from the main road (so you don't hear any traffic or noise), it is close to everything. There was a Winn Dixie and a Big K Mart just down the road where you can get anything you need. The Hurricane bar and restaurant is attached to the main office of the hotel. Their food is good and they have an outdoor seating area where you can watch the sunset. Every room has its own parking spot so that was a big plus also. I can't say enough about this little gem. I was pleasantly surprised based on the rather low price for the night. Great value and we hope to be back soon! « less

My boyfriend and I went on a Florida Keys roadtrip and we stayed here for the first night. It was everything we needed at a very affordable price. The room was a good size, comfortable, and comes with a flatscreen TV and mini fridge. The best part is the marina/pier in the back of the hotel that was nice to go out to at night and fish off of. If you're looking for a place to rest your head in the Keys and have a lot of to do things on your list like we did, it's a great little place. There's a huge statue of a tropical fish in the front of the hotel that's a cool place to take a photo in front of, too. « less

The word resort is sort of a joke but the rooms were clean and very reasonably priced. The rooms are fairly small but there is a frig, microwave, and coffee maker. The management is great and tries to accommodate in any way. There is actually a sandy beach and a few boat slips. It was a great place to watch the sunset. There is a lively bar and restaurant on the premises and it was packed on Thursday night when we got there.
FYI South Florida can be very expensive and the cost has nothing to do with quality or even security. I would definitely recommend this motel to someone who is not looking for big hotel comfort but there was a bar, restaurant, pool, and sandy beach. « less

Stayed at the blackfin to run the 7 mile bridge. Booked 2 nights.
3 days prior arrival, got opportunity to go down to Key West. Tried unsuccessfully 3 times ( We work odd hours) to get information as to whether or not we could cancel the second night. This was 3 days prior to our arrival.
My sister finally got a window during bankers hours ( 9-5) and was able to reach the front desk. "Mike" answered the phone, and my sister asked it we could cancel that second night, and she explained to him that I had been calling in the evenings prior, and did not get a call back.
Mike said "our phone answering system is fine, and we recieved no calls from your sister" my sister argued that we had left messages. Mike told her "no your sister did not call us and no, you cannot cancel that second night, either you stay 2, or don't stay at all." She was dumbfounded, and asked, "so, you would rather have no business than one night?" Mike said, " figure out what you want to do, you have until tomorrow" and slammed down the phone.
The next day, she called back and got "Dan" he turned out to be the only thing worthy of staying at this place. He was kind, considerate, and explained that the phone system had, in fact, been down. Dan apologized all over the place, explained rationally and kindly that they have a 2 night minimum, and was sorry that wasn't conveyed properly.
The rooms are older, but clean. Our room had an adjoining door that apparantly backed up to our neighbors ice chest. As we had to be out on the bridge running by 7 a.m, it made it hard to get a good nights sleep with the constant chatter and ice clanging. Our neighbors also pulled up the outside chairs and chainsmoked until 2 am. with the smoke wafing under our door. ( you can see sunlight during the day under the door).
We did not stay a second night, and will not stay there again. Dan, you are wonderful!! go work with a more professional hotel!!! « less
