I was in town for a graduation ceremony at Ft Jackson. I truly braced myself for the worst as Extended Stays have really declined in cleanliness and comfort standards over the past ten years - they're typically a cheap crash pad. This location was an exception. Very clean, very comfortable and a truly friendly staff! It was less than a half mile from my event, they offer a free grab and go breakfast and free wifi in your room. I wholeheartedly recommend this location! « less

I came to watch my husband's basic training graduation, and loved it! The guy at the front desk, I think his name was Eric, was really professional and nice. Our room was clean and fairly modern, and the bed was actually surprisingly comfortable. I had no problems and would come back in a heartbeat if I am ever in the Columbia area again. Oh, and the location is awesome! « less

My recent visit to Extended Stay Fort Jackson- It was really an unpleasant visit. I decided to reserve the room online so that I could be closer to the base(my husband serves there)but was not pleased by the service or the room when I got there. The ront desk was so unprofessional- they were more focused on how to say certain things in spanish opposed to making sure I( a paying customer) was treated properly. My room was small and the bed was not close to a queen size- as I reserved. There was horrific alarm that went off in the middle of the night- when asked about- I was told that it was a system error. The terrifying alarm gave me the impression that the building was on fire. When I went to checkout- I was asked if I wanted to charge my American Express ( I do not own an AE)- I honestly told "Savion" the front desk attendee that I didnt own an American Express and he asked if I would give him my card- which he slid(charged- they also made a copy of my card( not sure why-and I wans't pleased with that either). After checking my bank account history- there was a discrepancy where I was charged twice- two different amounts for my stay. One amount was $100.12 and the other was $66.59. I called the hotel and spoke with Eric on 5/6/13 and he helped with explaining what happened with my account discrepancy. I was told to call Debbie Hurtz the manager the following morning. I called Extended Stay on 5/7/13 at 9:45am. I was not able to speak with Ms. Hurtz but with the attendee who answered the phone- who said his name was Craig/Greg. I was told that he could help me with the issue and that Ms. Hurtz wouldn't mind at all (Unprofessional). He didn't listen to the problem- but assumed what he wanted to assume. He told me that I stayed in a room that I hadn't slept in, he told me that they werent showing any problems and said that he didn't see what the problem was. After trying to explain to him what the problem was AGAIN- He then asked me to hold on- came back to the phone said it was going to be fixed and asked was that it. I am upset because there was no formal apology. I stayed on the phone with Eric who was willing to help and made sure I was given the info I needed for the conversation I was to have with Ms. Hurtz(that I never got). I was willing to reserve another room- we are at fort jackson often- but we usually drive over 60 miles a day and were willing to use Extended Stay for our visits- but this is horrific. I am not the one to complain but I am flustered with the service that I received this weekend and the days that followed. Totally unacceptable. « less

I had planned this trip due to my son having surgery. I had to travel by car because for strange reasons American Airlines cancelled all flights and I could not wait due to the nature of this trip. I traveled all night and upon arrival to the hotel asked a question " is there anyway I could check in ? The person at the desk told me no. Maybe I did not explained my self but his next response was What do you want for me to tell people to leave? You can't check in till 3 pm." When I requested the room I requested a handicap accessible room but could not get that neither . I have stayed at this chain in other places and have never experience such poor service. Thank God my son is not going to be station at Ft. Jackson too long because I would never stay at this hotel anymore . « less
