The stay at Pala was great the room the view. Problem is they do not accomodate guests when you request something like a room close to the elevator. I popped my knee and was having a hard time walking so asked for something close to the elevator since I was going to be there for a few days. They gave me a room 4 doors down from the end of the hall and said that was as close as they could get me to the elevator. My co-worker who checked in after me asked for same and his room was 6 doors from the elevator.... was it my size or because I wasn't a young good looking man? That was my first issue this trip. We were traveling on business (my nephew and I) The secretary booked our rooms and had called to make the reservations. Our meeting day was changed and moved to a day earlier so she called back to change the reservation to a day earlier. The clerk asked if she wanted it put on the card on file she said yes (since she reserved the room on our corporate AE the week before). While I was there I was checking my balance on my checking account and found it was extremely low! I went to my room and checked my account online and found that Pala had placed a hold on my room and my nephews for $800 to my personal debit account. I called the desk and the clerk said oh don't worry they will take the hold off on Friday (day after I check out) I explained this trip was paid with AE and he oh yes that is where we will bill but we hold the total on the reservation for this until you check out??????? and if I wanted it credited back and hold removed I would have to go downstairs and give them my debit card.... I said apparently you can charge it without having the card why can't you credit it?? he said oh no we can't do that. Remember my sore knee and walking.....and that room at the END of the hall....I was in total pain and VERY ANGRY but took my card down because I didn't want any of my checks to bounce. When I went to the front desk the man was very nice and understanding, I asked to speak to the person I was on the phone with and was told they could NOT come to the front desk to assist me but asked the clerk to take my card to the back (already making me think they are making numerous copies of my debit card) The clerk returned my card and said come back in the morning and see if this was credited and I was very rude and said some bad things. I then was very rude to the elevator security when he asked if i could read when I didn't pull the card out of the packet to show him...... to say the least I was in major pain very upset and had nothing I could do about it except wait for the next day and make sure it was credited on my account which it was by 10 a.m. The problem was I had visited this hotel/casino on a personal occasion a year before and they kept my debit card on file. They should of removed the hold when I paid the room with the AE card but whoever checked me in didn't do it. MY FAULT so fair warning..... ALWAYS tell them to remove your card number from your file!!!!!!!!!! « less

I didn't stay over but my friends did. Went here for a musical event. The concert venue is okay, but the staff was REALLY friendly. Had a lot of gears to carry and the bell boy was very patient and courteous, made sure our gear were properly carried away, stored and retrieved. Valet parking is complimentary with hotel stay.
It's in a remote area so I guess it could be a nice get-away. Nothing much but mountain roads around.
My friends were all over the oysters at the buffet. Nice variety of food there. « less

My husband and I love coming time and time again to this hotel. We love the beautiful landscaping and the restaurants down stairs and the security person protecting our valuables and stuff upstairs. We also come atleast once a month to just get away from it all and play slots and enjoy the great food and sleep very well. The bed is soooo relaxing. Love, love the spa tubs...I always ask for extra salts and feel like i am having a spa....Can't ask for anything more. « less

Pala is great from beginning to end. You're out in the San Diego country so peace and quiet abound. The casino floor and employees are always in top shape and I've never really had a problem with anything and I've played and stayed multiple times. The rooms are ALWAYS nice, clean and stocked well. The Italian restaurant in the casino is fantastic!!!!! Pala is a great get away for singles and couples. « less
