Check in was very nice and efficient, our room was large and spacious. Breakfast in the morning was typical of most inns of this type: waffles, eggs, bacon/sausage, hot/cold cereals and sweet rolls. All is pretty much what I expect from Hampton Inns. However, after the first night the air conditioning in our room didn't work. This was not a real big problem as the nights were very mild and we were out all day. I reported the air conditioning problem to the front desk, it was never repaired, again as I said before, this was not a problem as the nights were quite mild. Our last two nights were a bit hot, so the room got too warm for my tastes. « less

This is a classic Hampton Inn - good, clean rooms with their fluffy beds, microwave & fridge in the rooms, good breakfast, coffee and fresh-made cookies in the evening. Good location, just down the road from a large shopping mall with several good restaurants. The best part was the Staff. Blanche, the Manager, was SO helpful and friendly. I had flown in from Hawaii, flown ALL night, arriving exhausted at 9 am... despite the fact that check-in time was 3 pm, Blanche quickly and cheerfully found me a room. Later in the trip, I had to change my plans for a day - I had to check out for one night to go home, then fly back to Charleston and resume my business... and Blanche accommodated me cheerfully, again. She recommended several excellent restaurants, and was SO friendly. The other front-desk people and breakfast staff were cheerful, helpful, friendly - very genuine people, that made me welcome - didn't treat me as a "customer" but more like a family member. If I return to Charleston, I WILL return to this hotel. « less

Sounds redundant to others, but this Hampton Inn is really a great choice when downtown Charleston is too expensive. You will wind up spending $5-10 every time you go downtown, but only a 5 minute drive so no big deal. Rooms are decent size and well laid out, extra storage space in bathroom under sink, good water pressure in shower and hot. Upon check in, staff (Fabian) a cut above most in this (and other) hotel classes, very efficient with a follow up phone call 10 minutes after we got to the room to confirm all was satisfactory. Breakfast was good for what it was. Only thing we found odd was how the hotel bragged (signs in elevator and post it note on our bed) about the fact that the sheets were washed prior to our arrival, as if there was an alternative to give us dirty sheets, but aside from some bemusement, not a big deal. « less

All staff we spoke with were very nice & very helpful. One of the service women there actually sang as she worked the breakfast buffet, in which we were very pleasantly surprised to see how many food choices - not just some toast, fruit & coffee as is often typical. Also nice to have the complimentary coffee/tea area open in the main lobby all day. And even great vending machines. Would definitely stay there again... « less
