We have stayed at the Fairfield in Laurel quite a few times. It was an adequate hotel, with a friendly staff and a good location. Now the hotel is being updated. The rooms are fresh and updated, with a better decor and not as tired as before. The construction in the lobby interfered with the breakfast service but it was still good. I'm sure the hotel will be all put back together soon. « less

Amyamelia-
Thank you for not only being repeat customer but for taking the time to write a candid review about our property.
We are pleased with how the rooms are coming along and the new color scheme really brightens the rooms. The construction is in the last stages and should be done by the close of this month (April 2013). We also cannot wait to start serving our guests the new hot Fairfield Inn breakfast menu.
On behalf of the staff here, thank you for your compliment, our aim is to be a clean and friendly hotel and I am happy to hear that our staff treated you as the valuable guest that you are.
We look forward to hosting you again when you return to the Laurel area.

We stayed here while traveling through the area. The front desk was friendly and efficient despite the late hour. The hotel is definitely under construction (clearly stated on their website) which takes away from the total experience but it was something we could live with. The room was recently renovated, very clean and better than expected at first impression. The breakfast was simple but got us on the road the next morning. We did not have time to check out any facilities but until construction is complete I wouldn't expect much. For the price paid, we had a good, clean room in a safe neighborhood and experienced no problems. Once everything is completed, this will probably be a very nice place to stay. There are many stores in the area for anything you might need. « less

We stayed here while heading home from a road trip. We were tired and have another 6 hours of driving and decided to stay over in Laurel. All the other hotels were booked and we had to stay here. I've never stayed at a Fairfield Inn and probably will never stay at another one. You don't expect the Ritz when you stay at a Fairfield Inn and it wasn't. It was just as I expected - boring, dark and small and just clean enough. The weird thing was that the room smelled like it had just been painted - like within hours of us checking in. I think they're renovating. My advice here is don't stay in Laurel. There is nothing there. I think the Univ of Maryland is nearby, Other than that I don't why anyone would be staying in this area. Just don't. Try Columbia or SIlver Springs. The guy at the front desk was nice. « less

Dear Zoey-
Thank you for taking the time to write a review about our hotel. On behalf of the staff we appreciate the feedback from our guests. This feedback enables improve where we come up short and maintain what we are doing right.
As you mentioned, we are undergoing a renovation that should be complete in April 2013. We are happy about the new product and hope if you are in the area you shall give the hotel another chance.
While the town itself is more of a living community there are places in the area that are worth a visit. We shall make sure our desk has a tourist guide at the desk. Once again, thank for staying with us and writing a review about your stay.

workout room has no lights and machines not plugged in. Construction dust everywhere and bathroom in workout room out of order. Lobby is under construction. Stairs not available due to construction so if elevator is out of order, we are in trouble. No refrigerator in room although a space is there. Desk personnel said the delivery had not yet arrived. This place should not be open until all is finished and ready for clients in a proud, Marriott way. Front desk did not have a map of area restaurants and shops, only offered a quick, hard-to-understand verbal list. Would not stay here again and would discourage others from doing so. Very noisy ice machine which, when reported, was not improved. No ice available on 2nd or 3rd floors. « less

Dear Reviewer-
Thank You for staying with us during your most recent visit to the Fairfield Inn Laurel MD. We really appreciate your business as well as your feedback.
The construction work you mentioned in your review has been long over due to say the least. We do try to minimize guest impact and I am very sorry your stay was affected negatively.
As per the plans we were in the process of doing, we have moved the exercise room to a higher floor away from the construction, and it is open for guests to use.
As you noticed in the new rooms the furniture has an opening for a fridge. While those have been ordered the manufacturer is behind on getting the supplies in on time. I understand that is not the best situation but I wanted to let you know it is something we are aware of and are working on rectifying.
We should have a done a better job on the service front, as the leader of this property I take the full responsibility. I shall with work hand in hand with all our staff members to make sure that we correct this.
Once again, I am very sorry that our renovation ruined your trip. It is a learning experience for my staff and I. Please accept our humblest apologies. We would be honored if you are ever in the area to give us a second chance to show you the new product and the steps we have taken to grow.
Regards.

Was given a room on the 5th floor (I believe) which I was told was recently renovated. I was pleasantly surprised by the upgraded bathroom fixtures and overall feel of this floor. Very comfortable room.
Lobby area was unusual for this chain - more like a motel, with a desk and very small seating area at the front. The rest of the public space (where breakfast is served) is down a hallway.
Breakfast was adequate - not as many choices at other Fairfield Inns I've stayed at, but still plenty of offerings. « less

Dear Ladytez-
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a candid review of your stay and our hotel. On behalf of the staff here we are very thankful.
We are in the final stages of our renovation and we are happy to hear that you were not only happy but comfortable as well.
That having been said, we are an older version of the Fairfield inn, while we cannot change the location of the breakfast area we are changing the menu. Part of the upgrade also comes with a complete breakfast overhaul. We are adding scrambled eggs and sausage patties to go with the new menu. To get there we have to add a kitchen and change our food prep area. Once this is done we shall match all the other Fairfield inns that have made the switch already.
Once again, we thank you for your business as well as your review.
Regards,
