I searched hotels, as usual for a business trip to Santa Claus, Indiana, and needed a pet friendly place because Rhudi, my German Shepherd goes with me on all trips. Because he is over the 20 - 40 lb. limit, my choices are VERY limited. After looking in a 30 mile radius, this place was the one I decided to try. After reading the reviews, I was expecting a horrible time. NOT SO. The staff, (every person I dealt with, 4 total), were very nice. They went out of their way to help me out. The place it self is not a Hilton, I don't like Hilton atmosphere anyway, but it was clean, had coffee maker, high speed net, door that opened to the outside from each room, a great place for my dog to run, TV, hot water, microwave, frig, and easy parking. These are the important things I look for in a stay. I went back 3 times. I don't know what the people that rated a 1 star want for $60/night, but after staying in hotels for 300 nights a year and now at my 17th year, this works for me. I now know the scew of rating. The only negative, which wasn't the hotels fault, was the bar next door. I went in for a drink before bed, the guy asked why I was there, said would like a drink, told me he would be right with me. I waited 7 minutes, he never returned, I left. I would stay here over many times. « less

Let me first start off my admitting that this motel was not our first choice, but after getting jerked around at the Days Inn in Jasper I'm glad we ended up here. Check-in was quick with the price quoted on the website. We were given a room on the second floor and after we got all our stuff from the car, we discovered the door wouldn't open from the inside. Called the front desk-which apologized for the inconvenience and offered us a different room on the first floor. Clean room, comfy beds, clean linen and towels. Both the TV and air conditioner worked. The continental breakfast is what you'd expect-filling and free. The pool area reminded me of motels from the 50's and 60's-where the pool was in the front and the motel and the rooms V'd out from the pool. All the staff (including the manager) were cordial and polite. I'm not sure if the people that wrote such bad reviews were expecting a bell boy and mint on their pillows, but this is certainly worth the money. Good location to other local businesses in Tell City, with a Mexican restaurant right next door. We WILL stay again. « less

Thought this place would be fine for one night to sleep and shower after going to Holiday World. Wrong! Lots of shady characters looming around the parking lot, playing loud music and drinking. Walked into the dingy, dark, creepy looking room and within 1 minute was on the phone with the front desk telling them we could not stay there. Literally felt unsafe and just generally uneasy about the whole thing. Luckily they gave us a full refund, but even if they hadn't it would have been worth losing the money just to get the heck out of there! Definitely not a place for families! Do yourself a favor and stay anywhere but here! « less
