As usual, a Fairfield is what you expect when you book, a very adequate place to spend a night when on the road. This one is unusual since it is not easy to find the road that you should exit from the interstate or the road that it is on or the entrance when you are beside it!! They cannot put a sign out although the furniture store beside it is identified. It is a small place with one small elevator and small rooms so perhaps Marriott is reducing costs with some of the newer places. Overall it served our needs for a two night stay. The staff is pleasant and the young lady working the weekend shift in the dining area worked very hard to keep stocked. We do like the waffle machines at Fairfields. « less

We arrived about the time we could check-in. We walked in and there was a man working the front desk. He said hello but then the phone rang, so he told us to wait one second. He answered, but you could tell it was someone else who worked there that he was asking advice for something about. A good five minutes go by where we are standing there. Maybe it is just me, but I thought that he should have said hold on a minute and let me check these people in. Instead, we listened to the entire conversation about his drawer going to be sort because of some reason. There was a female that came in at about that five minute mark and she didn't even set her purse down but helped check us in (probably took 2 minutes). She also gave us 2 water bottles for being reward members---which was nice because many hotels don't really give anything. I appreciated her rushing to help. So that is why I only gave it four stars----basically for not recieving prompt service from the get go. The breakfast was nice, a little crowded, but still nice. It was a nice hotel though and if staying in hilton head area, more affordable and not too far of a drive (25 minutes). « less

My wife and I spent 2 nights here while visiting family in Bluffton. We had been in another nearby hotel but the room was terrible and wouldn't even take showers there. We reserved the Fairfield Inn online then called to find out if we could check in early to take showers. They found us a suitable room (different bed type than we had reserved, which was fine with us) and we gratefully checked in at 10am at no additional charge. The hotel was very clean, the beds extremely comfortable, and the hot breakfast was great. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Bluffton. « less

While driving to Florida, we recently stayed at the Fairfield Inn Hilton Head Island Bluffton almost one year after we were there for four days for my niece's wedding in April 2012. It was just as warm and welcoming as we remembered it to be. We arrived late on a rainy, windy night in February after a 10-hour drive from the North and were greeted warmly by the desk clerk. We asked for and received a quiet room on an upper floor away from the elevator and were given bottles of water. The breakfast the next day was ample and well organized by Judy who continually replenished both the hot and cold offerings and kept the counters and tables clean and uncluttered. It is a quiet, clean, and nice, small place to spend one or more nights while traveling through or visiting Hilton Head or Savannah. If you are traveling there after dark, use your GPS or print out a map because it is hard to find in the dark. The signage could be better. However, that's a small point, and we will probably be back! :) « less

Just a quick note on the signage-- it is a county law that no signs can be placed by the road. It is for promotion of the "beautification" of the town and to try to keep it as natural as possible. Of course, this can create problems for out of town visitors as businesses can be quite hard to find. We do recommend using a GPS or you can always call our front desk agents (available 24 hours a day) and we will guide you in.

This was our 2nd visit to this hotel. I didn't rate it the highest the 1st time around last year only because it needed a little updating. The hotel has been hard at work upgrading and it shows. Our room was very clean and the staff, like the last time, was fantastic. The free breakfast was also very good and hot. The hotel is located in a very safe area. I would recommend this hotel for anyone traveling through the area. « less
