First off, front desk lady was great. We checked in Thursday night before The Derby. We were exhausted. She helped us get extra towels, shampoo and soap for the ensuing days which was wonderful. Then Sunday morning, I went to the front desk around 10am, and there she was again! The Derby is a tiring event and we needed a late checkout if possible. She called somebody on the phone and got us a few extra hours to relax before our long journey home. Just a friendly place. My ranking of cleanliness has nothing to do with the staff. It's an older hotel so it's not going to be perfect. « less

I read the reviews before making our reservation and have to say we expected it to be a little better than it was, and we weren't expecting much! our room was in need of redecorating/refurbishing. I'm glad we brought our own pillows as the ones there were pretty pathetic. The courtyard would have been nice if the pool had been open, but it was too early in the season. The breakfast was the usual continental, but was ok. Front desk gentleman was very good during our check-in. However, beware of an extra charge on your bill if you do NOT use their in-room safe! They don't itemize the bill, so you need to pay attention to the original charge when you check-in. They provide a discount if you eat at the attached Denny's. We never eat at Denny's, but we were pleasantly surprised!
I'm glad you had a descent stay with us. I know the rooms are in need of re-decorating and I am currently devising a plan to make that possible. Hopefully, if you choose to stay with us again you will be delightfully surprised.
