About 10 minutes after getting into our room, we received a telephone call on the room phone. A man stated that he was the manager and that the motel had experienced a "Power Surge" the night before that had wiped out the computers. He wanted to re-enter our information and asked me to give him our name, number, and all pertinent information on checking-in again over the phone. As I had been the one to check us in, I was aware that the computer had our information. I responded with "I'll send my husband right down to the desk.". The man got very flustered and said, "Oh, no. Don't do that! Just give me the information over the phone. I don't want to disturb you." I hung up and my husband went down to the front desk. They confirmed that the man calling was not the manager and that they had experienced many complaints from other guests that this had happened to them. I asked if they had contacted the police and the answer was "Oh, that's the general manager's responsibility." No, it is not. It is the responsibility of whatever manager is on duty! We won't go back!
