The only reason that I rated average and not poor is that the staff is very friendly and professional. There are no issues. The restaurant was also pleasant as was the server. Our room was another thing. It is clean but the first thing that you will notice in this windowless room is the musty wet feeling. We ran the air on high and that helped a bit but of course made the room very cold. The air was inconstant. My nose felt stuffy after being in the room 5 minutes. If you are not going to have windows, the HVAC needs to be in excellent shape. The bathroom was run down with old tile. Everything needs to be updated. Loved the staff, hated the room. « less

I stay at a Holiday Inn Express every single week,and this was a very bad experience for me. NEVER AGAIN! At least not at this one in Indiana, PA!!! I had a room on the 2nd floor, and they had no elevator. They did get the maintenance man to assist me with my bags. I stood at the front desk for at least 8 - 10 minutes, before I was even greeted. The Receptionist was not even helping anyone, and once she greeted me, she never apologized for making me wait, but instead, just asked if I was checking in. On top of that, she gave me some inoperable keys for my room. I came back down, and the other front desk attendant, revalidated my keys. I had dinner, and when I went back up to my room, the inside latch was on the door, so I had to go back down to the front desk, to inform them, and wait yet another 10 minutes for a manitenance man to come and let me in. He did apologize for making me wait, and waited to make sure noone was in my room. I attempted to do a review on their website, but was told they had no record of my stay, and I would have to wait 24 hours. I proceeded to call Guest Relations. (Corporate) She said, "I'm documenting your comments," and we appreciate your feedback. Not once did she offer, me as a Gold Priority Member a free weekend stay, or anything. Just, "Thanks for calling - its there anything else I can help you with? Are you kidding me. If you're older, or have any time of handicap, forget about staying here. I will take my business to the Marriot Hotel chains. NO THANK YOU! « less

We were on a college visit with my kid and brought the whole family including the dog. This was the closest hotel to IUP (Indiana University of Pennsylvania) at less then 1.5 miles away. Bonus was the indoor pool, with warm water! We had a great stay and the place was very clean and had lots of friendly helpful staff. There was a nice restaurant and lounge inside too. Initially the cost seemed a bit high, but with all the ameneties it was a value. « less

Located in the college town of Indiana, PA this is nothing out of the ordinary. The hallways are long and dark, there is no elevator for the second floor. Luckily I was located in the back of the hotel. The 'window' had the darkening drapes but felt as though people walking by could look right in. The bedding was clean but extremely rough on the skin and at first I thought I had bed bugs, but it was contact dermatitis from whatever soap they use to wash their linens. Would I stay again, probably would have to because of business limitations. « less

I stayed here the weekend of April 5th. I found the hotel to be below standards of a Holiday Inn. The hotel is way over-priced for what you get but hey, its a college town and they are probably used to getting what their posted rates are. The parking are could use a good cleaning and restriping. The outside stairwells are in need of general upkeep and repair. For safety, you are suppose to swipe your room key to enter the building but someone and duct taped the door jam so the door wouldn't latch. Although our room was very small, the furniture, carpet and drapes were in good condition and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom is small and the tub looked like it was caulked by someone who had the shakes. My room did not have a refrigerator and microwave and if you wanted them, it would cost extra. I probably won't stay here again. « less
