The ocean front rooms are clean, fresh, spacious and the view is great. The pool area is nicely furnished, very clean, and the fire pit is especially nice. For a Daytona area hotel, this place is a find. We were in town for a graduation, so weren't focused on the beach, but it was wonderful to have this place to return to for relaxation. I personally wouldn't chose this part of Florida for a pure beach vacation because of the traffic on the beach and the no dogs rule. The kitchenette would have been disappointing if we wanted to cook, but the large refrigerator was all we needed. The breakfast was limited, but adequate, and we enjoyed it from our deck. The swing chairs on the first floor patios and the wicker sofa on the pool deck are nice touches. We liked the modern furnishings, the bed was comfortable, the shower was roomy and had a rain shower nozzle. I would stay there again. « less

The good: 1. Clean but not as clean as a lot of people are touting (but that's the beach life) 2. Nice shower, big, clean 3. Some rooms have kitchenettes but beware of what's NOT mentioned on the website 4. Nice pool / fire pit area / clean pool & spa 5. Decent continental breakfast 6. Pretty beach
The bad: 1. Hotel promised by phone that the room we rented had a kitchenette to include a stove, OVEN, and microwave oven. No Oven. No dishes, no utensils, not even a roll of paper towels. You would think........ 2. Two days in a row our room was cleaned at about 4:00PM. Not acceptable. The first day they simply made the bed with the same sheets. After 2 more days of this, , I stripped the bed and pillow cases and put them with the wet, dirty towels on the floor by the front door. They put the same sheets / pillow cases back on the bed and pillows. Not acceptable. Not at all. Thus, this scathing displeasure with this establishment.
3. The inn IS "pet friendly" but they do not provide a place for pets to do their business!!! Who thought of THAT one? 4. Furthermore, ALL OF THE BEACHES IN ORMOND BEACH AND DAYTONA BEACH ARE NOT PET FRIENDLY. So, there is nowhere to walk your pet except on the beach. So, you have to sneak out to the beach before about 7:30AM or after about 6:30PM so the beach pet police don't castigate you with their nonsense. We took our dog to the beach and picked up her poop each time, some people were "foot wedging" the poop into the sand. NONE OF THIS PET FRIENDLY STUFF IS ON THE LOTUS INN WEBSITE SO BEWARE. 5. A couple of other things not spelled out clearly on their site:.......No elevator even though there are only 3 floors. Not a biggie but...., Very little parking. If you're going there on the weekend, be prepared to possibly have to park across a busy avenue ( A1A ).
All of this said, the folks that run the place are pleasant enough but they really have not built a convenient place to stay. (at very least, they have not divulged enough info for a savvy trip advisor devotee to make a fully informed decision)
Overall, this place was not o.k. with us. We made the best of a ridiculous situation but we will not be back to Ormond Beach or anywhere else near Daytona Beach.
For a nice alternative, try somewhere around St. Augustine or New Smyrna, although these beaches are not pet friendly either. New Smyrna has one at a state park but it's not a terribly convenient situation there either. You have to walk quite a ways to get to the beach. If you are with family or friends that are a bit older of not as fit, they may have a hard time with the trek.
We think Florida is slowly turning into California and the Ormond / Daytona Beach area beat everyone else to the punch. My wife's especially disappointed since she's originally from there.
Think Belize or any number of other places other than a place that cannot count chads or provide a place for our pet to poop. Doh! « less

This is not party central, and thank heavens for that! We arrived, May 2nd, during a terrible storm that could have permanently tainted our enjoyment of our stay here, but the room was serene and upbeat, all at the same time. The storm ceased to be an issue and we felt safe and secure, for days I might add. Spotlessly clean and contemporary. The beds were very comfortable with good sheets. We came for three nights, but loved it so much we stayed for five. For our last night we were moved to an ocean view with a kitchen. The staff is lovely and the location is excellent. The beach is clean and uncrowded, and all public areas are properly maintained.
Three things could be helpful: 1) please provide a luggage cart for guests (my husband was soaked as he had to make many trips to the truck to unload) 2) please, figure out a way to secure your WiFi connection. Someone tried to hack into my computer and it was from an Ormond Beach I.P. address. Thankfully, my security caught it just in time. (Note: it could have been someone across the street in a parking lot.) 3) a bit more water pressure - took forever to rinse my hair - no water savings when this happens..
I highly recommend this place for all the right reasons. It is basic, but lovely. A good value. Quiet and clean. Breakfast was very plain with muffins, Activia yogurt, orange Juice, fresh fruit, and a coffee/latte machine, but enough to get you going.

I would be redundant to reiterate how catering and elegant the property is, especially given the reasonable price. Here's the only caveat. I am a DOG LOVER, big time. I was fine with the dogs at the pool and the barking that accompanied the dogs. (We did not bring our own dog as she was beyond the weight limitations). There was much dog barking poolside. It was music to my ears, but was noticed by my husband. He felt that it took away from the serenity of the property and location. I know several people who do not share my passion for dogs, that would have felt irritated by the frequent loud barking. Otherwise, we were very satisfied with our stay and would return again. « less

We cannot say enough good things about this hotel. The staff is fabulous and the room are beautiful. Our dogs were welcomes everywhere and we got to meet other couples traveling with dogs that made the trip even better. Even being "stuck" in the room during a bad rain storm was a pleasure. If you are traveling with a dog, spend the extra money to book a downstairs pool room. It's beyond worth it for the view alone. « less
