We had "happened" on a great deal in Binghamton at a Red Roof Inn and because of that experience we decided to see if there was one close to JFK. We decided to drive down to the city a day before our departure so we wouldn't have to deal with rush hour traffic. The staff were friendly and the room was clean and nice. Loved the laminate floors, I hate the feel of old carpet and it harbors tons of dirt and germs. Love the idea of a smoke free hotel although the first room we were given ( 4th floor) had a terrible stale smoke smell. The clerk quickly gave us another room on the same floor so we didn't need to move our luggage very far. Comfy bed and pillows. We slept great and we were woke refreshed and ready to spend our day traveling! Thanks! « less

Great location hotel has been renovated but the STAFF NEEDS TO BE TRAINED!!!!! Upon checking in to the hotel there was no welcome or greeting at all not at all pleasant sorrry she had to get up from ger sitting position . trash receeptscles overflowing cold coffee seemed to be the norm stayed for three days and upon arriiving back to the room every nite we were locked out 2nd night waited a half hr for the receptionist to get back to the front desk. the beds were uncomfortably hard and the pillows were like cardboard for such a pricey dump NEVER AGAIN Ed LYON Pittsfield Ma « less

We stay at Red Roof Inns across the country because we can count on being accepted with our dog. Of about 20 different ones we've stayed in, this is maybe #1 or #2. We found the location excellent, conveniently located next to the Mall, 24-hour Walmart, Target, Nordstroms, restaurants, you name it...highway is nearby, but you'd never hear it in the clean, quiet rooms. We could barely hear the classroom of students who seemed to be in the hallway on a Friday morning. You could barely hear someone dropping something in the room before us (I had to spend the entire day in the room working). The staff was very professional and attentive. They changed our room when we smelled smoke on the 3rd floor, despite being a 100% smoke-free hotel. We found the window in our room (#130) had trouble locking, but we finally managed to get the top latch to catch. We liked the ease of being to walk through the front door or the side door on the first floor (this is not one of those where you can drive up to your door, but instead must park and walk through the lobby or the side doors.) The room's floors were laminate (not carpet), which always makes us feel better about fleas, etc. We're grateful for the clean room, great service, quiet and excellent location. We felt it was worth the $120 we paid (with coupon) in March 2013. « less
