Stayed at the Astor hotel, Vevey for three nights as part of a Great Rail Train Journey experience, and found the hotel to be exceptional. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and the Orinet Express bar served its purpose well in teh evening. The room we had was well appointed with a self catering small kicthen facility which came in useful when you wanted a quick cup of tea, andits location right next to the train station at the heart of the town meant it was easy to drop the bags and then get out and go sightseeing. Be warned that they do have smking rooms here and therefore a request would be in your best interest if you want it smoke free. We initially were placed in one, but when we went downstairs we were immediatley moved to one that wan't. A very enjoyable stay and ahotel we woudl tecommend to anyone. « less

Firstly, let me say we had excellent efficient service during our seven night stay with Great Rail Journeys from the friendly staff. The food is good. However - if you want a good nights sleep, choose another hotel! We were allocated rooms 102 and 103. We had to get them changed after one night due to intermittent clonking and banging and what sounded like chairs being dragged across a tiled floor somewhere. This went on until 12.30 am on our first night. Next morning we informed reception and were told "see how you get on tonight and it's bad we can change your rooms". Sadly, it was just as bad and by 11pm we had had enough. The very understanding and helpful night conceirge gave us rooms 108 and 109. Although they were quieter some banging could be heard at times and the soundproofing in the bathrooms was non-existent! It was as if one was sharing the facilities with somebody else - most disconcerting! One of the main reasons for staying in any hotel is to get a good nights rest. In our experience the Astra cannot provide this. « less

The case is that it has been very windy the last weeks and there is some works (construction) near our building. The material stocked on the site has been swept by the wind. Our neighborhood explain us the situation. We are more than sorry about this situation.

I've stayed in the Astra many times over the past few months with varying degrees of satisfaction. The hotel is conveniently situated next to the railway station and well placed to get to any location in the small town of Vevey. The rooms vary a great deal in size and appointment but are generally comfortable. Staff are efficient, some more friendly than others, but service in restaurant and bars is good. The food is also of a reasonable standard. For a business stay, the Astra is comfortable and convenient. For a leisure stay, try one of the grander hotels with views of Lake Geneva. « less

I have stayed at this place twice, more for convenience than anything else. To me it’s a typical "one" night hotel. The great news is it really is opposite the train station so if you are flying late into Geneva you can hop on a train to Vevey and cross the road to your hotel - You will be in bed or the bar in minutes.
The hotel staff are very nice and helpful. The rooms are clean and tidy but feel a little basic as do most of the other facilities in the hotel. Bar area is good and usually show sport on the TV.
I had one of the internal facing rooms which was not nice but for one night who cares...
DO NOT hope for a good breakfast – it’s on the basic side at best.
