this was a great little down town san francisco motel - cheap and cheerful - clean, (very clean) and just what we wanted for a couple of nights - yes, doesn't look good from the outside, and I did have doubts - but it was just what we ordered. We had a huge bed, which was extremely comfortable; coffee/tea making facilities, and we had a disabled room because there were no others, and for $320 for two nights it was just fine. Yes, woodchip decor, but clean and comfortable. We didn't do the breakfast on offer (muffins and pastries and coffee at check-in re3ception) - went down two blocks to Balboa cafe - see my review of that. NOTE: no hair dryer in the room - you have to ask at reception for one, which is ok « less

My sister and I stayed here the weekend of 4/6.I have to say when we drove around the corner ,and saw the outside ,both of us said "oh dear".Checked in.. proceeded into the very tiny elevator, up to our 3rd floor room, and upon opening the door, were most pleasantly surprised. First thing we both noticed the room smelled wonderful, the carpet was clean and new looking, furniture shiny new and dusted. The full size mirrored closet door clean, blinds, fridge, microwave all clean. The bed linens are white damask stripe, lots of pillows on the beds, the sheets soft and fresh.The bathroom looked kind of retro with grey tile and pink fixtures and CLEAN, no hairs mirror streaks or mold, there was no window but a skylight in there. The toilet is like a public bathroom type, but pink and worked very well but sort of loud! Really did not interact with the staff very much, however they seemed courteous and friendly.Only drawbacks street side room noisy earplugs work good, and there seem to be very few plugs in the room for curling irons flat irons hair dryers for two women getting ready at the same time lol.Nice restaurant just across the street,food is great , the drinks are STRONG , making the proximity of the motel perfect! Love the Motel Capri and will stay again and again, I highly recommend. « less

The motel itself is quite old and not asthetically all that pleasing to look at but the room we had was clean and well supplied. Though the room was rather small, the queen size beds were firm and comfy. We had a problem with the TV when we first checked in and managment came right away to correct the problem. The bathrooms were also clean, well supplied and there was no problem with the water. The price was reasonable, especially given this is San Fransisco. « less

If you are searching for a reasonably priced place to stay for a night or two in San Francisco this could be for you. It is not fancy but we found it to be clean. The room we stayed in (#208) appears to have been recently remodeled. Linens were clean and fresh. We did not have a problem with the staff but we don't expect to be treated the same at a older motel as we would at a five star hotel. If you want star treatment, there a several expensive hotels in San Francisco. We know because we have stayed in them. The best part is the free parking, closeness to restaurants and access to the public transportation. The Capri has a high valued price for San Francisco. If you are too picky you may not be happy. If you are looking for a decent place to spend a night at a fair price you might want to consider this motel. « less

we stayed here last April and it was not that bad ..... but. the motel is a little rundown, however the location is excellent. Skip the breakfast the hotel offers and walk two blocks up the road to union street- union street has wonderful bakeries that offer delectable treats , many quant little stores and the best pizza I have ever had. The hotel is rundown and the walls are thin but the location is so good. There is a bus stop a block down from the hotel. its minutes away from all the top S.F sights , if your a child of the 90's and remember the show "Full House" do yourself a favor buy a picnick lunch at the Pier 1 market (take the tram down form Fisherman's Warf) - and go sit in the park across from the " painted ladies " . Oo and buy a 3 day transit pass this will safe you some money when you want go on a ride on the trolley's. have fun fellow travellers. « less
