A family-owned farm growing 9 acres of lavender and some other herbs. They harvest the lavender between mid June and mid August, and it is distilled to produce the oil. They then use the oil to make a range of products that are available in the shop (The shop is called "Sprigs"!). Before the lavender is ready and after the harvest they distill other other plant material e.g. Rosemary, Eucalyptus and the oil is
extracted. These oils are also used in the products.
When you visit it is best to go late June, early July when the lavender fields look at their best - amazing colour. Don't be put off at other times because although the fields may be less colourful, there is still much to see. They stretch the lavender harvest out abit so that as many visitors can see and learn about the proce...

St. Brelade's Church
Jersey
~1.42 miles from St Aubin city center
Hotels Close to St. Brelade's Church
St Brelade's Church is one of the twelve ancient parish churches in the island of Jersey; it is sited on the west of the island in the parish of St Brelade, in the south-west corner of St Brelade's Bay. It is unique in the Channel Islands in having one of the very few surviving medieval chapels, the Fisherman's Chapel, sited directly next to the main church building.
The church is dedicated to Saint Brelade. Early histories of the church made a mistaken identification with Saint Brendan, which is undoubtably wrong. St Brelade was also known as St Branwalader, and has no connection with St Brendan.
The date of the present church is unknown, but it is mentioned in deeds of patronage. In AD 1035, Robert of Normandy confirmed the patronage of the church to the monastery of Montivilliers,...

St. Matthew’s Church in Jersey was first consecrated in 1840 as a “chapel of ease” so that the villagers would no longer have to traipse up the hill to St. Lawrence ancient church. The glass interior was not installed until 1934 when Lady Florence Trent commissioned Monsieur Rene Lalique of Paris to refurbish the interior of the church in memory of her late husband, Jesse Boot (founder of Boots the Chemist). A.B. Grayson, a local architect collaborated with Lalique and created the unique interior you see today.

It contains videos showing all the major events that occurred on Jersey during the previous century, a section on Jersey urban legends, and information on famous people who were born on or live on Jersey.
Visitors then enter the second section, which is made to look like a submarine. Here they are introduced to Jersey's maritime history by Captain Nemo, played by John Nettles.
Finally, visitors are invited to cross a drawbridge into a large cinema...

Corbiere Lighthouse
Jersey

La Corbière (Jèrriais: La Corbiéthe) is the extreme south-western point of Jersey in St. Brelade. The name means "a place where crows gather", deriving from the word corbîn meaning crow. The crows, however, have long since been displaced from their coastal nesting sites by seagulls.
The rocks and extreme tidal variation around this stretch of Jersey's coast have been treacherous for navigation and La Corbière has been the scene of many shipwrecks, including the mail packet "Express" on September 20, 1859.

All services at St Saviour's are based on the new Anglican prayer book, Common Worship. We use modern language but retain the traditions of the Anglican curch with robed Priest and choir.
Our music too is recognisably traditional, we sing hymns well known for generations along with more modern songs. Mostly our singing is led by our fine pipe organ, but on the first Sunday of the month we enjoy the playing of our all age music group.
At St Saviour's we pride ourselves on the sincerity of our welcome towards visitors and newcomers, but always realise that everyone has the right to come into church and be left in peace.

La Hougue Bie is a historic site in the Parish of Grouville, Jersey. Hougue is a Jèrriais/Norman language word meaning a "mound" and comes from the Old Norse word haugr.
The site consists of a 20 metre long passage chamber covered by a 12 metre high earth mound. The site was first excavated in 1925 by the Société Jersiaise. Fragments of twenty vase supports were found along with the scattered remains of at least eight individuals. Gravegoods, mostly pottery was also present. At some time in the past, the site had evidently been entered and ransacked. On top of the mound were built two Medieval chapels. Grosnez Castle
St Ouen
~5.62 miles from St Aubin city center
Hotels Close to Grosnez Castle
Grosnez Castle is a ruined 14th century castle in Saint Ouen situated in Grosnez, the north west corner of the island of Jersey in the Channel Islands.
The name is from the old Norse words for "grey headland" - grar nes - an accurate description of the site when seen from the sea - rather than from the French for fat nose.
The castle was built around 1330 on the orders of Sir John des Roches. The walls were built from the local granite and are thickest on the landward side. Its position on a clifftop 200 ft (~ 60 m) above the sea means that on three sides it is protected by the natural features of the site. A ditch dug into the rock provides protection on the fourth side.
The gatehouse, which is the only substantial remnant today, was protected by a drawbridge and portcullis and wou...
