The entire area containing North Olmsted was originally part of the Connecticut Western Reserve.

On March 24, 1966 the Great Northern Theatre opened at Great Northern Shopping Center in North Olmsted. This was one of the first and few Cinerama Theatres in Ohio and had gold colored curtain in front of the long 90 foot screen in a very large auditorium with 1,346 seats. It was closed in 2000 due to new cinemas that were added in Westlake, Ohio by Regal Cinemas.

Gardenview Horticultural Park (16 acres) is a nonprofit botanical garden and arboretum located at 16711 Pearl Road, Strongsville, Ohio. It is open weekend afternoons to non-members; an admission fee is charged.
The park was begun in 1949 by horticulturist Henry Ross on a private lot filled with blackberry brambles and weeds atop blue and yellow clay. In his extensive work on the garden, Ross has introduced dozens of cultivars including the white-leafed Ajuga 'Arctic Fox' and the mildew-resistant Monarda 'Gardenview Scarlet'. He opened the garden for public viewing in 1961.
The park now includes 6 acres (24,000 m2) of English Cottage Gardens (emphasizing plants with variegated, golden, silver, or colored foliage) and a 10-acre (40,000 m2) arboretum. The arboretum contains some 2,500 unusual trees, including 500 varieties of flowering crabapples underplanted with daffodils. The garden also features azaleas, 1,500 tuberous rooted begonias, thousands of tulips, a cactus collection, and two ponds.

The Great Lakes Science Center is a museum and educational facility in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, United States.
The center's exhibits focus on helping visitors to understand science, technology, and their interdependence with the environment. Many of the exhibits document the features of the natural environment in the Great Lakes region of the United States. The facility includes signature (permanent) and traveling exhibits, meeting space, a restaurant, and an Omnimax theater.
The museum opened in July 1996. The center's signature exhibits concentrate in three major areas: Great Lakes environment, technology, and science phenomenon. During the 2005/2006 school year, a new Outreach program made its debut, and Great Summer Science, the museum's summer science camps, started summer 2006. The camps are a source of educational fun. Capers rangein age from kindergarten through 8th grade. After they are too old for camp they may have the oppurtunity to volunteer in the camp program and then be offered a job. Volunteers must be going into 9th grade. Also during the summer 2006, the Science Center installed a wind turbine in its front yard. The Science Center estimates the turbine would provide around 7% of the Center's power. In Summer 2007 they also completed the installation of a 156 panel solar array forming a semicircle at the entrance of the Science Center.
The Great Lakes Science Center is located between Cleveland Browns Stadium and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at North Coast Harbor on the shore of Lake Erie. It has an attached 500 car parking facility.
The Great Lakes Science Center includes many interactive displays much like COSI in Columbus, Ohio.

The Old Stone Church is a historic Presbyterian church located in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, and is the oldest building on Public Square. It is also the second church built within the city limits.
In June 1819, the Union Sunday School began meeting on the site of the current church, and on September 19, 1820, fifteen Clevelanders, some ten percent of the then-village's population, signed a charter officially establishing the congregation. It was formally incorporated in 1827 as The First Presbyterian Society, and in 1834 the first church was built out of gray sandstone. The interior featured a gallery suspended by iron rods, reportedly a first in a Cleveland public building, as well as the city's first pipe organ. Because of its building materials, First Presbyterian was called "the Stone Church," and as other stone churches were erected in the area, it became known as the "Old Stone Church."
By 1853, the congregation had outgrown the original building, so the church was razed, and a larger replacement was built on the same spot. The Romanesque Revival church, dedicated on August 12, 1855, was also made of local sandstone, and was designed by architects Charles Heard and Simeon Porter.
