We stayed at the ESJ Towers May 2-7, 2013, in a clean, efficiently appointed 4th floor timeshare unit, with a gorgeous view of the pool, palm trees, and the Atlantic Ocean. The hotel is right on the beach. Open the balcony and listen to the surge of the waves, if you can, over the roar of the AC unit on the balcony. It had one BR, a large walk-in closet, and a pull-out sofa in the LR. Two televisions, a modern kitchen, and a DR table that seats 6. The bathroom was small, but we took quick showers anyway, so we could get out and make the most of our time there. My husband complained about having to pay $4 for beach chairs. There is a bus stop close to the hotel which was convenient and economical. The only time we used the shuttle was to and from the airport. There are several local as well as chain restaurants, a grocery store, a Walgreen's, and at least 3 casinos, all within walking distance. The staff, esp. the concierge, was especially friendly and helpful. In case you forgot some essentials, Walmart is only a 75-cent bus ride away. Take the T-5 or the C-53. After you finish shopping, you can continue on the same route to Old San Juan for only 50 cents more.Yes, I would stay there again. « less

Also, unless you have AT&T, there is no wi-fi. But the staff really works hard to make your stay a good one. Security was ever present, helpful, and friendly. The ESJ towers could use a bit of a face lift, however, I do have several positive things to say also. The security at the main entrance, friendly helpful staff, very clean rooms, price and location are wonderful. We just spent a week at the ESJ towers and truly enjoyed ourselves. It is centrally located to many activies in and around San Juan and the entire island. Many wonderful restaurants are within walking distance. Look past the 70's decor and enjoy a great trip to Puerto Rico!! « less

We rented a two bedroom and were contacted by the owner who asked us to switch to another condo because someone else wanted our a unit . He offered a larger unit for the same price and we had 4 people in our party so we took it! Surprise! It wasnt as nice as the other condo, it was like a house trailer with a really long hallway and it was very old, outdated and decor was of the 1970's and to top it off there were no towels and wash cloths! Hello!!!!! Really- not cool. The only good thing was the view! The Towers in general was very out dated, looks like the lobby is still dated in the 1970's and the pool closed at 7:00, not much to do there or in the general area. Also, the entire time we stayed there we had trouble getting into the pool with our key! and ther was no one around to get you in if your key didnt work. I went to the desk and ask for a new key, still didnt work. I ask a employee if there was another entrance and he no! Guess what! There was another door and the key worked, of course we found this out on the last day of our vacation. I was not very pleased with this place at all! « less

We rented a 2 bedroom, 2bath unit 1174. Our family had plenty of room in this unit and it had everything we needed to make our stay very pleasant. Having a kitchen so that we could eat breakfast in our room was a bonus as well. We have stayed at resorts such as the Marriott other times when visiting PR and I have to say I found this place to be much better and more suited for our family. The location can not be beat. The nicest beach is just steps away and the pool area is very nice as well. Pool is large, plenty of comfortable lounge chairs and the area is very nicely maintained. Security is also very good as you need a wristband to enter the hotel from the beach and also need to swipe your key card to enter other areas. I found the hotel itself to be very well maintained and very clean. The San Juan hotel is next door is triple the price. The area of the hotel is fabulous as there are many places that you can walk to including markets, restaurants and casinos. The beach is absolutely perfect and in my opinion one of the best beaches in PR as far as being flat and somewhat calm. You have to pay $4 to rent a lounge chair and $10 for an umbrella but it is well worth it. There is also a great beach BBQ stand right in front of the hotel where you can grab lunch at a very reasonable price and the food is good! You can also bring a cooler on the beach which helps save money on food and drinks! ESJ does rent rooms as a hotel and there are a lot of units that are rented privately! You may have to do your research to make sure you get a unit you are happy with but overall this place is great and you really can't beat it. If you want to a comfortable place to stay and would prefer to spend your money on nice dinners and entertainment than this is the place to stay! The staff is very helpful and courteous, the location is ideal (5 minutes from the airport), the beach is beautiful and the locals are very friendly! I will defenitely return to the ESJ! « less
