This year's Tiki Kon is going to be at this hotel, but since we can't go, we stayed last night.
It's pretty obvious that this is not a new property. There are various signs of age all over. Nothing terrible, but still there. A little more concentration on repairing the minor issues that I saw would go a long way to preventing the larger ones that they can cause.
Since we were staying on a whim, we certainly didn't get the best room in the house. In fact, it almost felt like that room was designed when someone realized there was a bit of un-used floor space. So, while it was a bit cramped, it was comfortable.
I do wish that there was a second chair. Sitting on the bed, watching tv was not comfortable. Considering the size of the room, I would remove the second bed by the window, and replace it with a loveseat and a coffee table. It would be a huge improvement.
The room was clean, smelled clean, and was quiet. Slept like a baby, I did.
Every member of the staff that we talked to could not have been nicer. The guy at the front desk when we checked in last night was also there when we left this morning. He was a delight. The two ladies from housekeeping that we chatted with were very nice. And the waitress in the restaurant this morning was a hoot.
The property felt like it was once a tiki-themed hotel, but I can't be certain. It certainly looks it.
The ship design of the restaurant/bar is worth the trip by itself.
I would recommend this hotel to any of my friends. « less

The room had a musty/mildew smell. I told the front desk and housekeeping sprayed perfume in it. No investigation into the odor. However, I really liked the location. « less

It was a bit noisy, but I actually switched rooms, because I had 2 queens and preferred a single king. The bed was a little too soft for me personally, but that's just a preference. The price was reasonable (group/event discount) and the location couldn't have been better. Wifi speed was very good. I would consider staying again if I had an event to go to in Vancouver and didn't want to spend a lot on my room. « less

The room we stayed in was in really good condition and even though it wasn't a listed as "river view" it had a great view of the water and bridges. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I would recommend this location to fellow travelers. The Joe's Crab Shack is five minutes down the road and was a great late night dinner! « less

10 days ago I left an item in my room. I have called the front desk to be forwarded twice to 'House Keeping' and leave a voice mail,and receive no response. I called during their supervisor's shift, I was told my message would be delivered and she would respond as quickly as possible, I decided to call back this same day only to find she decided to not only ignore my message but also leave home early. I have even gone as far as to contact Laurene Patrick Director of Rooms.Also to never hear back from her. I will never stay at this Red Lion again. Highly disappointing. « less
