I had a broken stay at the Sofitel (3 days in + 3 days away in Bohol + 5 days in) and would rate the hotel staff for friendliness as THE BEST EVER. I cannot get over how helpful/friendly they ALL were, without being intrusive. I have stayed at a lot of 5-Star hotels that could learn from the Sofitel Manila, including other Sofitel's. Then again, maybe that's just what all Philies are like :) The hotel ambience is great. The Spiral restaurant superb (even if you're not staying at the Sofitel, make sure you book in for 'Sunday Brunch'). Sunsets from your balcony or the pool bar are unforgettable. One thing that amazed me was how many young children were staying there - obviously the pool is a huge attraction and the hotel is very 'child friendly'. « less

One thing that I did not like was that I bought the room online, it was a Executive King Bed room for about PHP 9k. Then when I got to the hotel apparently PHP 2k was consumable. I wish that they just made the room PHP 7k. :) « less

The Lagoon Swimming pool is really liked the most of my children and looking from the top, it's really amazing and awesome as we also see the bay view. Same with the room which is spacious and enough for my family especially its cooling temperature, not to mention its cleanliness, too. The location is very accessible, too, as it's near the food or restaurants and the biggest mall in Asia. The service greatly improved, as we don't need to wait for so many hours before we get or receive our requests. Good Job!!! « less

Last April 27-28, 2013 I and my wife checked- in at Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel with my daughter and son-in law. We were occupying two rooms. The plae is nice The buffet breakfast has a wide selection to choose from and taste good. After breakfast, I left my wife in the room to take a nap while I went to the Swimming pool.. About 20 minutes after, my daughter went to see me in the pool to tell me that her mom called her room to tell her that a hotel staff entered my room while her Mom was inside. I immediately told the insident to the pool attendant and went to the Front Desk to report the incident. I was told that the staff will put a mat for the drinking glasses in the bathroom inside our occupied room. I can not accept the reasoning of the hotel officer/staff. My wife was sleeping and when she open her eyes... a man has entered the room. When we checked- out the front desk officer asked for an apology The damage has been done, what can I say? « less
