The Palmer House didn't become a beloved downtown Chicago hotel by chance. It did so by design. Since 1871, the iconic Chicago hotel has been host to countless celebrated figures. Today, having undergone a meticulous $170 million renovation, the Palmer House awaits those stories yet to be written and forever to be retold. We invite you to share in the inspired story of this downtown Chicago hotel. Even more so, within the walls and halls of the Palmer House, we encourage you to compose your own.

My wife and I come to Chicago at least once a year and most often than not we stay here. We enjoy the atmosphere and the location. After the last remodeling the rooms are pleasant, clean and enjoyable. It's a rather big place with a lot of coming and going so it may not be the best place for families but for a couple or a business trip it's perfect. « less

I have stayed in the Palmer House a number of times but I have just returned from my latest stay. If you like old world hotels this is it. The rooms are small but very functional and the amenities are all there. Hilton beds, large flat screen TV's and a staff that will handle any concern. Great fitness facility and Spa. Four nights and I felt like I was at home. « less

Since my son has moved to Chicago, I have been visiting at least a couple of times a year. Went Mothers Day Weekend and had reservations at the Palmer House. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It is extremely convenient to the "L" for getting around to the various events/sight seeing activities. Since we go often, we have learned how easy it is getting around the City. The double bed rooms are roomy, the decor is very classy and elegant. What I love about the Palmer House is the Lockwood Bar, you can sit in couches, comfortable chairs, sit at the bar or high top tables and get served. The Concierge gave us great information on a place to eat near the theatre so we would not feel rushed. See their website and you will exactly what the rooms look like. « less

Just speent two nights here while attending a large convention in town. This is one of the very few hotels has room available, I found out the hard way.
Check in around 1 pm and was told room is not ready, will text me when it's ready around 3 pm. Standard for a sold out hotel. However, no text when 5 pm arrived, I was back to see if the toom is ready. Long long line, two front desk clerk? I wonder who made the schedule for a sold out hotel date. Two front desk cleck should be enough for 1000 room hotel. Front desk manager need a raise for lowest cost per cuustomer served.
Finally get in the room and see room service from the night before still in front of the room. Makes me wonder how clean my room was for the busy house keeping staff. I can tell they were rushing to get the room ready. One bar of hand soap. No bath soap.
Supposed to meet a business associate at the lobby bar at 6 pm. The place was packed with one (1) server. Dirty glasses everywhere, waited for 10 minutes with no service, decided to go elsewhere. That was the last time I even attempted to spend a dime for food or bev here.
They finally removed the room servise left over 10 am the second day of my stay. Stayed at the executive floor with no turn down service. Club floor lounge always full with very little service. Internet charge is $13 per day per devise. If you have a phone, an Ipad and a computer, that's $39 per day before sales taxes. I was in Autin TX four season three weeks ago, they charge $13 a day for up to three devise. Guess Hilton is three times more upscale than four seasons. We do know that only upscale hotels has internet charges.
My advice is stay away from this place if they are busy. Looks like they staff at 25% full at all time. With this kind of service? I am sure they will be 25% full 90% of the time. « less
