The price was right; the staff was nice; the breakfast was okay. When I booked the hotel because it was pet friendly, I specifically asked if there was a pet fee and was told no. When I checked in, I had to sign a paper that stated I was responsible for a $50 non-refundable pet fee. I refused to sign. The second day a staff member waved me over to the desk and got nasty about me and the dog fee. I told her that if my dog made a mess, then I would pay. (He never made a mess in the room.)
The WiFi never worked in my room during the 4 night stay. I repeatedly asked for it to be fixed and the staff was very pleasant, but it never got fixed. WiFi worked in the lobby but it was very inconvient to have to bring my laptop into the lobby to check my emails, etc. I never got to play my games at night as I did not want to go to the lobby and leave my sister alone in the room.
The bathroom was not clean (mainly tub needed recalking and grout cleaning desparately). The icemaker was no where close to my room and had to walk down my hall across to another wing and all the way down to the end of the hall. When I complained, they did bring a refrigerator to my room. The blanket on one of the beds was rotting and falling apart.
Nice pool and the room was warm, but the water was still too cold to go in. « less

Thank you for your comments. I apologize that you had a less than exceptional experience. Thank you for making us aware of the WiFi issues. Our internet technicians have diagnosed the problem and it has be fixed. The next time that you book with us we, please let us know that you would like to be closer to an ice machine and we will do our best to accommodate your request. As far as the pet fee is concerned, this has been our policy for quite some time, i apologize that you were given the incorrect information. I have double checked, and I can assure you that no pet fees were charged to your account. The pool water temperature is set to 82 degrees, I am sorry that this was not acceptable to you.

This hotel looks like it has come a long way but it still has a way to go. The lobby area is very nice, the staff is friendly, the breakfast was decent and they have a nice pool but the hallways, rooms, at least the one I stayed in, and the computer system could use some work.
Their system doesn't seem to give them a good idea of what rooms have which amenities as the room they initially gave me was missing things I asked for and I had to change rooms. Admittedly the first room was nicer than the second but this review is based on the second room.
The room still had an older TV, the first room had a flat screen, which wasn't a big deal, the picture was fine. The walls looked like they had been recently painted but the door frames and doors were chipped and looked terrible. The room, although it is currently a no smoking room, had a faint odor of stale cigarette smoke. The bathroom sink and shower were nice but the towel rack was falling off the wall and the wall paper looked kind of old and was peeling in places. Although the sink was nice, the water pressure is actually too high and for some reason they mounted the toilet paper under the front of the sink so if you weren't careful it overshot the sink and got the toilet paper all wet. The room was too warm for my taste and I couldn't get the A/C to do anything to cool it off. It wasn't even hot outside it was just warm in the room for some reason. The bedding looked pretty old and had what looked like cigarette burns (the first room had updated bedding). The carpet seemed fine.
All in all it was not too bad. There was nothing gross or really off putting but after coming into the lobby, the room was a let down. Its a good value for the money and I would love to see how it looks when they finish all the remodeling that they are obviously working on. « less

This review is long overdue. Spent one night in this hotel on a long journey north for the holidays this past December with my beba. We didn't get to the hotel for check in until some time past midnight after a very long day of driving. The staff was friendly and accommodating and agreed to let us stay a little later in the morning than their usual check out time since we were so late to arrive. We were so happy to sleep in and finally get some rest that we overslept the hotel's usual breakfast service. Oops! But, a few kind staff members went out of their way to grab us a a plate each of what was left over in the kitchen. Just what we needed before getting back on the road.
Overall hotel score: very good - room was clean, nice pool, comfortable bed, can't beat it for the price Overall staff rating: excellent
Shout out to Jennifer, Jim, and Mitch for being so lovely! « less

Stayed there this week due to an early flight out of BDL. It was so bad, it was almost comical. Its hard to find and The room was horrible. The blanket had several cigarette burns entirely through the material! The ceiling was water stained. And the tv was right out of the 70s....and there was no airport shuttle! Take this place OFF your list. « less

We take complaints like yours very seriously. It is not our intention to inconvenience our guests in any way and I can well understand how disappointing this situation was for you.
Unfortunately I have no way of pulling up your information based on your username RAF3546. I wish you had reached out to one of our associates during your visit, as your concerns could have easily been remedied. In addition WE DO have an airport shuttle that is available to all of our guests. I apologize for the difficulties you had finding our location. We are currently going through a major renovation, part of which is replacing the highway signage. This should be complete in the upcoming weeks. As part of that renovation, we are also in the process of upgrading our televisions.
I once again apologize for the difficulties you had, but appreciate your bringing them to my attention. We value you as a customer and hope this experience will not spoil your image of HillsPoint Hotel.
