Property Description
Mondrian Los Angeles is a parallel universe of perpetual possibility. Having recently undergone a 20 million dollar renovation, this luxury boutique hotel in the heart of West Hollywood captures everything the Sunset Strip stands for – excitement, invincibility, and glamour.
Lobby
The newly-renovated Mondrian lobby is a curated gallery intended for socializing. Farmhouse-style chairs harken back to the era of Lewis Carroll and the quaint cottages that are synonymous with the English countryside. The oversized lamps are a nod to Marcel Wanders, designer of the iconic Mondrian Doha and South Beach.
The front desk is dressed with Regency tiles imported from a UK manor home. The half-curtains adorning the windows of the lobby offer a small peek of hotel goings-on to those passing by. It seems to invite you in – don't you want to come and play?
Everything in this lobby was hand-selected to represent Alice's whimsy, curiosity, and playfulness – with nods toward Starck's original design.
Fall through the rabbit hole as you ascend in your elevator car only to land in our version of an enchanted forest. Discover each color in a Los Angeles sunset as you step off the elevator on each floor with our light boxes commissioned by James Tyrell as a nod to the entertainment culture of our city. Take a seat on the new blue benches, reminiscent of a certain hookah-smoking caterpillar in Wonderland, and be sure to note the pattern of twisting branches and leaves leading you to paradise – your room.

Step through a modern-day looking glass into a sleek and contemporary room with just a touch of whimsy and notice: this is not your average hotel room. A soft color palette with hints of blue evokes the bright, airy and sunny skies of Los Angeles. The glowing mirrors and light fixtures conjure the flashing bulbs of the paparazzi putting you directly into the spotlight and your comfort at the forefront of your stay.
As you enter, find yourself tumbling into Wonderland alongside the art installation featuring a contemporary woman falling through space. The White Rabbit is channeled through the hanging light fixtures in the form and shape of rabbit ears. Black and white checkerboard patterns play with the scale in the room, making you unsure of your size within the space. A larger-than-life film of iridescent dragonfly wings are splashed across the mirror overlooking the seating area. These scale pieces serve to showcase how small and large one can feel in Los Angeles, a form of escape from the bustling city streets.
Wander the labyrinth maze within the pattern of the area rug. Playing off the Wonderland garden, a mushroom-shaped side chair and ottoman in the lounge reflects the undertones and organic feeling of a personal Eden, as do the branch-like legs of the coffee table. Harkening back to Phillipe Starck's original design, an aubergine chair serves as an ode to Mondrian's original designer. A teapot-inspired Capollini chair from Milan captures the satire and inspiration of a mad hatter tea party, a tongue-in-cheek element that compliments the overall joyfulness yet a form of comfort throughout.
The lighting fixtures that look curiously like rabbit ears overlook the brand-new bed design that is draped in a signature blue close to heart to the famed Wonderland heroine, both backed by swirling wallpaper.
Of course, nothing here is quite as it seems, as proven with an inside-out mirror. New bathroom designs provide a more European vibe that is sleek, clean quality yet warm, airy and dramatic with new imported wall coverings and bathroom tile. Hang your towel on the angel wing hooks, representing the City of Angels keeping watch over you. The delicate wallpaper resembles the magical forests of wonderland, enveloping you in a world of security and wonder.

Skybar: By day, the lushly landscaped Outdoor Living Room brims with flowering vines and comfortable teak and wicker furniture, making this a chic go-to oasis for enjoying impeccably fresh cocktails with a lively and fun atmosphere.
