Most national Knights Inns have been changed from the original, but this one has tried to maintain the wooden "look" of the 80's. It has flat TV screens, frig, micro. coffee in room and beds are good. Granted it's NOT new, but the service is good, it's quiet and convenient. « less

My friend and I got stuck here. We were driving from Pittsburgh to Newark during Hurricane Sandy. We were ordered to exit the turnpike. Knights Inn was the only place that had vacancy...YIKES. While Jersey was getting pounded with rain....Somerset PA was getting 8 inches of snow. First of all, the front desk lady was VERY friendly....an absolute doll. We walked to our room and opened the door.....Talk about scary. I think I stayed here once in college (1991) on my way to a Steelers game. Guess what? Nothing has changed....including the mattress or window treatments....or carpet. The only difference is...I'm an adult and totally grossed out. The place was "surface" clean....but God forbid you lift the mattress (which I always do) and look under the bed... The mattress was from 1986. There was hair on the sheets. The coffee maker was on the bathroom sink....broken mirror...bent towel rack. The biggest problem was the lock on the door. It's the kind of lock one would find on an old guest bedroom door....you know the kind that a 5 year old could bust through if he really wanted to.
I slept in my clothing, shoes, hat and gloves (not kidding). I also left that stuff in a bag when we left the next day. I asked for a snow shovel in the morning....the guy looked at me like I was nuts. They don't plow the parking lot....or the sidewalk. Total joke.
Ever see the film Planes, Trains and Automobiles? I was Steve Martin and this was the motel. I'm sorry to be so tough on the place, but it was gross. The gal was a doll, the room was dirt cheap....like my grandmom always said...you get what you pay for. « less

We have stayed at this property many times during the past 30 years on our way to visit family in Allentown, PA. My husband prefers to stay at motels that have "drive up" rooms to ease in unloading/loading our minvan. We are budget minded travelers - we're only renting the room, not buying it! I used Wyndham Reward points to pay for this room. We checked in and Linda went over and above to make sure we were satisfied with our room. The room was clean, the heater worked fine to take the chill off the room since it was cool that night (10/13/12). The double beds were old standard motel - no pillowtops here! We did have a refrigerator and microwave so we went next door to Arby's, got some dinner and ate in the room so my husband could watch football & relax. Our room was quiet and we slept well. In the morning, I went to the office to see what they had for breakfast - coffee, juice, donuts, toast, English muffins and cereal with milk. I made some English Muffins and took them back to our room to enjoy with the in-room coffee. It was enough to get us through to lunch and continue on our way. Gas station down the street and we're close to the toll booth. We usually go to Hoss's for dinner, but we were too tired this time! « less
