When should you plan your trip to Somerset, PA?
In terms of weather, the best time to visit Somerset is in the fall. Average highs in September hover around 69 degrees Fahrenheit and drop to around 58 degrees in October. As long as you pack a light jacket and a few clothing layers, you can enjoy the beautiful outdoors without dealing with the summer heat. Best of all, fall turns the Pennsylvania landscape into a palette of warm, vibrant colors, making this season perfect for photography. Be aware that the fall foliage tends to attract crowds, which can cause area hotel rates to remain high.
If you want to avoid crowds and take advantage of pleasant weather, plan your trip to Somerset in the spring. The weather starts to warm up in March with highs reaching 67 degrees by May. Evenings can still turn chilly, however, so bring some outerwear. The only downside to visiting Pennsylvania in the spring is that the weather changes daily, so you could enjoy a perfectly sunny day and be bombarded by rain showers the next.
Although summer is Somerset's hottest season, temperatures don't reach as high as some popular destinations, so you can enjoy beautiful weather even in mid-July. On average, Somerset highs reach 77 degrees in July and August, with lows hovering around 55 degrees. Even so, hotels around Somerset can get crowded as travelers journey throughout the region and look for convenient hotels off Interstates 70 and 76.
