We could not have asked for a better vacation, and everyone at this hotel helped make it possible. We booked this hotel primarily because of the proximity to Downtown Disney. It is literally right across the street to DDD. I knew about the hotels location, but I did not expect the level of customer service that we were about to experience. EVERYONE at this hotel bent over backwards to make our stay enjoyable. We have never felt so welcome so far away from home. People at the front desk, bell desk, valet, cafe, restaurant and even engineering were friendly and helpful. A special thanks to Char, Jenesis, Sabina, Craig, Pat, Dewan, Sandy, Joe and Diane from the restaurant, Juan from engineering as well as Joey and Gina (front desk managers) and of course, Jill, the fun director who ensured that there was always a smile on our face! Personally, I don't understand why anyone would overpay to stay at a Disney resort located in the middle of nowhere, having to take a bus to get anywhere! The busses that serve the Wyndham that go to the parks were fine. It does take a while to get from the hotels to the parks, but hey, its free transportation! There is a shopping center within walking distance with a grocery store and some restaurants. We spent three weeks at this hotel and enjoyed every day, even the rainy ones! The fitness center was small, but it worked well for us. We never made it to the pool to swim, but they do have a lift for wheelchair bound people like me. There is also a bar at the pool that serves food. Speaking of food, the restaurant at the hotel was surprisingly good! The character breakfast was fun, Goofy and Pluto make appearances and the buffet is good (and the Mickey waffles are to die for!) Dinner was also really good. Room service was always prompt and good. Overall, for the amenities we used, excellent job! Are there any negatives about this hotel? Well, you have to dig deep. Sure, there is a little noise in the morning with children walking in front of our room, but hey, its Disney World! I get it, there will be kids acting like kids. The disabled accessible room needs a better design, especially the shower (the drainage was bad) but then again, the staff went out of their way to help us. So, the only other negative would be that the hotel itself feels like its been there for a while, and looks a bit old and could use a facelift. That's just cosmetic though. and that's also digging really deep! So, we definitely can't wait to vacation here again. Unfortunately, since we live in California, it might not be for another couple of years (hopefully just 2). But we will not think to stay anywhere else but the Wyndham LBV. Hopefully the general manager (who we actually never met) will give everyone some sort of credit and reward for being just the most helpful and friendly employees. The woman actually received and answered three personal phone calls while interacting with us! The restaurant buffet was great although the staff was slow and non-existent many days. A line of guests began to form many mornings. The most disappointing experience of all was the pool attendent who was very short with us and after purchasing a cabana with cash came over to question our use of the cabana. This on Mother's day when we just wanted to relax! He demanded our room number so he could bill us for the cabana. He should have asked us first before assuming we were just taking the space for free. I really had hoped our first trip would have more pleasant. Lastly, I called the 800 number for Wyndham to budget pricing of taxis etc. and was told by the representative that a taxi to and from the airport was $30. This was the case when we arrived at the airport and took the taxi to the hotel. However, upon checkout we were charged $55 for the same ride back. I am a Mother traveling with two young girls. We had carry-on luggage only. I felt ripped-off and wonder why two different amounts were charged? On both occasions we were going to Walt Disney World and the park shuttle picks you up right in front of the hotel (very convenient). Both times the concierge has upgraded our room too. The front desk staff is always very nice and helpful (it is Disney). This is our third visit to the hotel going... more » We have just returned from a 2 week family holiday to the Wyndham Resort Lake Buena Vista and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. This is our third visit to the hotel going back as far as when the hotel was known as the Grosvenor. Yet again the service was excellent, the rooms were spotless and the location second to none if you want to enjoy the Disney experience. On previous visits our only minor criticism was that the cafe/coffee shop had a very limited choice and was pretty uninviting.....not now as they have a brand new Joffreys Coffee Shop, which sells a great choice of coffees, fresh pastries and bagels. Overall a huge improvement on what really was a minor issue previously. Prior to the trip we had requested quiet adjoining rooms as my mum was travelling with us and we paid a little extra for a Disney view. On arrival our request was fully accommodated with two great rooms overlooking the Disney Marketplace.
