What can you say about a place that welcomes you with water and rich chocolate when you step into your room. This hotel does everything it can to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The check-in process was smooth, the room well equipped, and the hotel restaurant fantastic. The room wasn’t the largest I have ever staid in, but it was well laid out and had everything you need. Bed was large and comfortable, towels were plentiful and fluffy, and the soaps were not the standard tiny, cheap bars. My biggest complaint about the room was that it was noisy – the building is charming but old and apparently it hasn’t been really soundproofed. It wasn’t too bad, except in the early morning when the garbage trucks came by. The hotel has tried to minimize the impact on guests by providing earplugs – a nice touch. The only other hitch came at checkout, when their systems were down and I could not get my receipt. They said they were going to email it to me later that day, but it took a little longer. « less

Our company sends us to Hotel Lucia a few times a year for work and I've always loved it. The staff are extraordinarily helpful and friendly, and the rooms are clean, very comfortable and luxurious. I love the thick bathrobes and soaps in the rooms. And they have the greatest black and white photos of presidents & celebrities. The fresh apples throughout the lobby and the front desk are a nice touch as well. The only downside is that the hotel is not the most quiet. Do use the earplugs if you are a light sleeper, or are near the elevators. And the rooms aren't the largest either, but certainly not the smallest. Definitely stay here if you get the chance. Wonderful location too, walking distance to the water, the food trucks and voodoo doughnuts (if that's your thang). Keep Portland Weird, and keep the Lucia lovely. « less

I stayed here on a Saturday night in May 2013 and reserved online at Priceline. Maybe that's the problem but when I checked in I upgraded to a larger king room. After being told that a smaller King room was ready I was given the opportunity to wait for a larger king room that would be better. Of course I agreed and we went about our day and came back later to check in.
I'm not sure what the other king room was going to look like but the one we were given was comically small. No larger than a poor cruise ship room with a ridiculously tiny bathroom. This (upgraded--twice!) room was not suitable in any way and certainly not what was expected for their posted $200/nite rates.
In addition, the room service menu is tiny and the staff at the other end of the room service line snippy and un helpful.
We will not be back and we suggest that Priceline remove this as a 4Star property. It is most certainly not. « less

Thank you for your recent visit and honest feedback. Most third - party websites offer you options when chosing your room. Unfortunately, Priceline is the exception. While they recently have added the ability to do this, most bookings are for a standard room. We always encourage our guests who book via a third party to contact the hotel in advance of their arrival to secure the perfect room based on availability.
We are one of only a few AAA Four - Diamond award winning hotels in Portland, a designation we are proud to say, we have earned for many years. The vast majority of our rooms are large, in fact, we have some of the largest rooms in Downtown Portland. I am confident that, if given the opportunity, we can find you the perfect room suitable for your every need.

I stayed here for a work trip because they offered the government rate, and feel very lucky to have found this place. Yes, the rooms are quite small, but I didn't find that to be problematic. Staying at the government rate, they offered free wi-fi, as well as hassle-free use of the minibar fridge to store my own food. The bedding is not down (which I appreciate) and firm pillows are available. The in-room coffee is tasty, and comes with real creamer. My room was right next to the elevator, which added some occasional noise, but nothing worth complaining about, and my window had a great view. The hotel is very conveniently located to most things you would want downtown, and staff were very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I would stay here again. « less
