We had ~25 attendees in for a business meeting at HP and all attendees stayed and LOVED this hotel. Kailee was extremely professional, responsive, efficient and proactive. Any requests I asked for, she was able to accommodate. Exceptional service, spotless guest rooms, very comfortable beds, excellent breakfast, very helpful and friendly staff. Look forward to staying at this quaint boutique hotel next time I am in the area. « less

I was visiting the local HP/Compaq campus and this was the closest option. It's done in the new minimalist hotel style, with open and friendly touches. The staff were all extremely friendly and professional and complemented the overall experience.
The fitness center is a nice size but suffers from essentially being in the lobby with a large, clear window. I'm not sure how many people will feel comfortable getting sweaty while being observed by others eating breakfast ;)
The rooms are a good size with a great couch/seating area and work space. The TV spins around so you can multitask easily too. Others have commented on the full size being a waste which I kind of agree with. I use a sound machine so the compressor didn't annoy me too much, but I can see how it would.
The biggest downside for me was the water pressure. I was on the 4th (top) floor so maybe that's a factor, but it was extremely weak. Might be something they want to look in on.
Overall, I'd definitely return if coming through again. « less

Generally very pleased with my stay. Stayed over a weekend to visit people who live nearby. Would definitely stay there again.
Pros: - New and modern hotel with nice, sustainable (green) features (building is LEED certified) - Area is within walking distance to restaurants and grocery (but no sidewalks) - Staff is very friendly - Great workout space - Good breakfast (but should go later on the weekends); coffee available at all times in the lobby - WiFi worked great (and is limited to guests, so presumably this is why it is faster than most hotel wifi) - Rooms are good size and well laid out, bed comfy, nice desk, great bath (and have full kitchen if you need that) - Cost was competitive with other places in the area
Cons that they could fix (reason I did not give it 5) - They pump a citrus smell into the lobby that is absolutely overwhelming; almost made some in our group nauseous. Many hotels use a slight fragrance, but this was over the top. - The staff allowed a group to party very loudly in the lobby and in the outside gathering area until after 3 am, right next to the front desk. Staff needs to require people using the common areas to respect others and keep the noise down; some people need to sleep. - A portion of the room has nice wood looking vinyl planks that are becoming common in hotels, but housekeeping at this place is cleaning them with something that makes them VERY slick (and shiny), to the point that it is very easy to slip on the way to the restroom if you are in your socks, and sort of dangerous. These types of floors are not supposed to be slick & shiny.
Other - The empty full size refrigerator in each room running all the time seems wasteful and counter to the sustainability theme. It would be good to have a way to turn them off when not needed, which I suspect is 95% of the time. - The area could use some sidewalks, but probably nothing this hotel can do to fix that « less

I have been coming to this area of Houston for 15+ years and am so glad that the Element was established a few years ago. Most of the area hotels have either aged ungracefully or increased their rates too greatly, but the Element is a jewel in the rough. The happy hour and breakfast are bonuses, but the clean, modern decor makes the place as comfortable as anything else within 20 miles at a great rate to boot. Unfortunately, the secret got out long ago, so book your room early or you will find them full. « less
