I lived in Mt. Kisco in the late 1980s. Went back last week for the first time in 11 years and the Holiday Inn is still outdated and not what you would expect for an affluent area of Westchester County, especially at the high rates they charge. (They can get away with it because they are the only game in town.) The hallways are dingy; there is no elevator (not a problem for me but you would think that after ALL THESE YEARS they would finally put one in, what's up with that?); the bathroom is so small you can hardly turn around; you can't plug in more than 1 or 2 things (i.e, a computer power cord and a cell phone charger). Based on the other comments, thank goodness the weather was such that I didn't have to use the heat or the AC. The breakfast is good but the prices are outrageous. The nightclub appears extremely popular (the patrons take up a lot of guest parking spaces). Other comments mentioned the train but that does not bother me. 2 positive and important things: Based on other comments, I specifically asked for a room that did not house pets or smokers since I am highly allergic to both. They apparently fulfilled that request because I did not notice any problems with that -- and believe me, I would know. Also, during my multi-day stay, the housekeeping staff replaced the towels and made the bed each day. Not everybody does that and I appreciated it. Bottom line: Come on, IHG. Spend some money at this property and fix it up. « less

I had such high hopes when I saw the lovely lobby. I should have known better after having to book through the chain itself because the desk wouldn't budge on the rate. We arrived late that evening, and were assigned a room all the way around the back of the hotel. As others have mentioned, it is quite the hike. My husband is unable to walk far...now we were not only walking far, but dragging the luggage cart. This is a pet-friendly hotel. It is not pets that I have a problem with, only with hotels that do not keep dander to a minimum. If the dander cannot be dealt with effectively, then perhaps there could be designated rooms for those traveling with pets? Finally got to the room, opened the door, and...felt like we got slapped in the face with pet dander, full-blown allergies, suffocatingly musty smells. We felt as if we had brought our noisy furnace from home. The climate control was super quirky. The AC interfered with conversation, as well as sleep. Also, we were on our own as to figuring out where to plug or recharge items. The outlets on the lamps did not work, leaving me to bend and reach behind the fridge to charge my phone. I had already ironed in the bathroom; I was not taking a chance on plugging in my phone, then dropping it in the toilet...which the outlet was next to...as was the coffee maker. Has no one heard how far contaminated water travels when a toilet is flushed? It was nice that coffee was available outside the room, but...I like the convenience of brewing coffee in my room, before I am dressed. Only plus that I can think of: my bed was comfortable enough, except for feeling as if pet dander was in bed with me. This hotel has the potential to be better; to deliver what one would expect from a hotel at this level; to deliver what one would expect in this part of the Hudson Valley. I have had much more ideal stays in supposedly lesser hotels. This stay left me sad. « less

Have never stayed in any of the rooms but have attended several trainings & business meeting there and thought it was a pretty descent place.
Was planning on staying there in two weeks along with two of my good friends to attend a functions being held there, but After reading some of the reviews I am not sure, especially seeing the cost.
I do appreciate the company's recovery strategies in replying and reaching out especially to those whose stay was not the best. GREAT CUSTOMER RETENTION MOVE.
So as the verdict is still out whether I will stay here or elsewhere, if I do stay, I will be sure to come back and post a review about my experience as an overnight guess. So check back soon.

This place looks pretty nice from the outside but it's anything but nice on the inside. I can't even think to put my rant in order so it's gonna be all over the place. I'll start with how when my father called to make the reservations and asked why the price was higher than the price through their website he was snapped at "that's the price, the one I told you." Oh you mean the one that was $40 higher per night? So we had to call the 800 number to get that taken care of.
When you pull up it looks pretty, if you can shake off that it's wedged between 3 car dealerships. As you watch what's going on in the lobby it more gives the impression that it is the type of place a man would take his mistress or a woman he just met in the downstairs lounge. The feel of the rest of the hotel does not match the appearance of the front so get that part out of your head as you retreat to rooms all the way down since you have to walk from the front.
Once inside your room understand that you have all the power it takes to operate a tv and a lightbulb. That's right, and if you plug anything else in you're gonna lose power to something else. Need to charge two iPhones you say? Ha! Oh an iPad too? Ok they're all going to take forever and try to find an outlet there's one in the bathroom where we keep the coffee maker right next to the toilet. Need to blow dry your hair? The lights are gonna get dim and your hair won't get dry. Want to take a shower? Ignore the black mold and grab one of those handy coffee stirrers in the bathroom and prop open the tub stop since it's always closed and the tub and shower run full blast creating tub flood levels in 5 minutes.
Now while you're enjoying your toilet coffee (yes it's gross I agree) just practice your flexibility because should you need toilet paper it's near the coffee maker - behind your back on the wall.
Allergic to dogs? Too bad! We're not actually gonna clean the rooms of pet dander or specify that dogs can only be in particular rooms. But we will charge you for a rollaway with pet dander on it.
The only good thing I have to say is that the vending machines accept credit cards and they haven't gotten the memo apparently along with the decor that it's 2013 and drinks are over $2 now. But I'm sure they'll get it now. « less
