I brought my family of five on a business trip and stayed at TownePlace. Rooms were very well kept, very clean. The apportionment of the rooms seemed a little odd--very small living area (fold-out couch, table, and semi-comfy chair, TV on stand) which forced us to lay the table on top of the chair in order to use the fold-out couch. On the other hand, the bedroom, which contained a desk and chair, full-size bed and dresser, was nearly three times the size. The bathroom is adjacent to the bedroom, so if you have children, they will need to trek through the bedroom at night if nature calls--be prepared for the noise. Kitchen has a full-size refridgerator, microwave, stove and is stocked with pots and pans, cups and dishes. There is a two-person table which necessitates eating in the small living area if you have more people than that staying in the room. Pool was very small by comparison to other hotels, but well-kept and a nice, albeit a bit too warm, hot tub. The breakfast buffet was standard but very well stocked with eggs, biscuits, gravy, potatoes, and sausage (or bacon, depending on the day), cereal, coffee, bagles, toast and juice. Early morning risers will have no problem finding a place to sit and eat even on days when Purdue has an event. Overall, a very good lodging experience. « less

We were delighted to receive a free upgrade upon check-in (we are rewards members) We really enjoyed our 2 bedroom - 2 bath suite with a full kitchen and living room area as we were traveling with our adult son to visit colleges in the Midwest. SJ was an enthusiastic staff member and was very welcoming and gave us all the information we needed for our 2 night stay. We also enjoyed the manager's dinner on our weekday visit « less

I usually stay at Homewood Suites by Hilton and Marriott's Residence Inn properties. This was definitely a step down from those, although the price is the same if not a bit higher. I travel A LOT for work and frequently stay weeks at a time, so in regard to extended stay hotels, I'm very opinionated!
Back to the TownePlace Suites Lafayette...furniture is over-croweded and dated (early 90s). The headboard isn't even attached to the bed. Closet space leaves a lot to be desired. The bathroom in my one bedroom suite is much larger than necessary. They could cut out half the bathroom and add to the closet space. I don't like that the work desk is in the bedroom right next to the bed, and because I work out of my hotel half the day, I don't want to work next to where I sleep. The kitchen silverware is cheap-o dollar store brand and looks like something they picked up at a Goodwill Store...very used and unappetizing to look at.
The good... Room seems very clean. I know this because I have a dog. I judge a room's cleanliness by how long my dog spends sniffing around when we arrive. More than a couple minutes of sniffing means not clean. Pet fee is a flat $75; reasonable. The staff here seem extremely friendly and helpful. I would give this hotel 5 stars for cleanliness and staff.
Overall, if you're an out of town construction worker, this is probably the place to stay (I've seen many here). Because this place feels more like hanging out in a dorm room than being on a business trip, I wouldn't recommend it for business professionals. « less

The staff and accomindations at the hotel were excellent for my son's stay at the hotel. My son was acting in a short film in Lafayette that went well into the night (3am) and I was able to secure him a room at hotel and called the front desk and the staff were very friendly at 11pm at night and likewise when he got to the hotel around 3:30am.
The next morning he got up early to enjoy the breakfast that was very good and they allowed him to extend his checkout by 2 hours so that he could get some additional sleep prior to making the two hour trip home.
He spoke highly of the professionalism he received at the hotel, especailly around allowing him to extend his sleep prior to his trip back.
Because the service was so good, I booked him the following Saturday for the same work and he experienced another enjoyable stay.
I would recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Purdue for their childs college days or for traveling up the I-65 corridor between Indianapolis and Chicago as a stay over location.
