This was my 2nd weekend stay there in just a few weeks. We have been down visiting Old Dominion University which my son will be attending in the Fall 2013 and look forward to staying at the hotel anytime I come for a visit. .Very clean and enjoyable stay. The staff were very friendly.Especially the front desk staff.I do agree that you can hear people walking above your room and even the noise in the hall at times. « less

I am happy to see that our recent changes have made a difference. We had several issues in the last week, but we have worked hard to make sure all our rooms are up to our high standards, to ensure our staff are properly trained, and to ensure that our breakfast is fully stocked and staffed during breakfast hours.
I thank you for your feedback, and look forward to seeing you during your next visit with us!
Sincerely,
Stephen Barger Vice President of Operations

I booked this hotel after reading so many positive reviews. It's clear, however, based on our experience on April 1, 2013 and other recent reviews, that things have changed...for the worse. We were planning to stay for three nights, but checked out after just one night (so happy we could find another hotel in the area with availability on such short notice!). Within the room itself, the HVAC unit was so noisy that we couldn't possibly have slept with it running - making the room temperature less than bearable. The pillows were like pancakes, completely flat and useless. The sofabed mattress was also extremely thin - could feel the coils. Shower was barely lukewarm. Outside of the room, the hallways had a horrible smell - musty or something. The breakfast area was not being stocked - out of OJ, oatmeal, hot foods, etc. The attendant was more concerned with washing the dishes than with stocking the food. What good are dishes if there is no food to put on them? The hotel was clearly full, and that's the excuse we were given for the issues...but it seems to me that hotels WANT to be full, and they should be able to handle it when they are. I appreciate that they did not give me any hassle about refunding my last two nights. We definitely do NOT recommend this hotel unless some dramatic changes are made...but we won't be back to find out. « less

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry we didn't live up to our high standards that we have for our guests. Obviously we got caught off guard, and I apologize for this. We are having a second breakfast host help during busy days to ensure we have a consistent supply of all food items during breakfast, and to ensure everything is kept up with. We are implementing a series of changes to ensure all of our guests are not only satisfied, but thrilled with their stays.
I hope you decide to give us another chance, if you give me a call personally, I will work with you to ensure your next stay is wonderful!
Again, thank you for your feedback, it gives us a chance to make up for any mistakes we do make.
Sincerely,
Stephen Barger Vice President of Operations

Generally we love Country Inn and Suites, but this one was not quite as good as others. Several minor things were broken or missing in the room (lightbulb + more) and then the breakfast was way overcrowded and short on everything. Also, the walls were paper-thin so we could hear people talking next door (clearly!) and the alarm clock that went off at 4 in the morning for about an hour! « less

I am sorry about the issues you had during your stay. We are doing a complete maintenance & housekeeping walk through this week, to ensure everything that needs to be fixed is taken care of, and to make sure we are on top of things before they become an issue. We are also hiring a second breakfast host to help during busy days, to ensure we don't run out of any food during breakfast hours.
Thank you for your feedback, I assure you we are using it to improve our service to each of our valuable guests!
Sincerely,
Stephen Barger Vice President of Operations

We recently stayed for two nights at this hotel. I booked using points and had read previous reviews on Trip Advisor that lead me to believe this was a nice property. My disappointment started when I arrived in the neighborhood. The hotel is situated in a part of town that is in desperate need of revitalization. No name brand restaurants are on this exit except for Dominos and Burger King. When I asked for restaurant suggestions at the front desk, the employee could only make one suggestion. When we arrived in our room, it was very dated. The carpet was disgusting to the point that I felt my family need to keep socks on while walking on it. The beds were comfortable, however on one of the comforters there was an obvious cigarette burn. When we turned on the heating and air unit, it reeked of dust. To make matters worse, someone was smoking in one of the rooms near us and we could smell it in our room. They clearly don't care about enforcing their no smoking policy. The room was not the only dissappointment. The indoor pool was unusable. The room was so full of chlorine or acid that you could not sit in it without your eyes burning. To top off a horrible stay, when we woke up on our last morning, we had NO hot water. My husband called to complain and we were told they had just found out about it and were working on the problem. I find that hard to believe. Finally, I can not comment on the breakfast. We were unable to get into the breakfast area because of the crowd. I have stayed at many Country Inn and Suites along the east coast and this was by far the worst experience ever. I was most disappointed in the fact that nothing was offered to us to make up for this experience. I was thankful, to say the least, that I had book another hotel for the second part of our trip. « less
