I would recommend this hotel especially because of location and value. We stayed three nights and had no problems. The exterior may be unimpressive, and the hallways might seem a bit worn - but it is a beach hotel. However we were very pleased with our room. For a hotel bed it was more comfortable then many I've slept in. Room was very clean and spacious. Nice decor and everything worked. I will say that the TV is a bit funky, you need to open the visitor's guide to find the little note on how to work the remote control (maybe that should be a bit more prominent). And I was surprised there was nothing in the visitors guide about the hotel itself - pool hours, breakfast hours, etc. I don't usually eat much from a hot breakfast buffet because it just tends to be more risky for me (eggs sitting in a chaffing dish for who knows how long is never a good idea in my opinion) - but there were a variety of options and I heard not complaints from anyone. Location is the best. This is not a beach resort, but everything was right there - beach right across the street, great restaurants and bars across the street, beach shop and rentals too. For the price and location the overall value was great. « less

Let me start by saying that if I were to return to Amelia Island I would probably stay here again. The location is as close as you are going to get to the beach, and there is a great restaurant/beach bar right across the street and a great bar right down the street.
With that said, it is important to note that my first impression when entering the hotel was that it was a bit worn, but had been painted to look better. The rooms were clean and large enough, as was the bathroom. The balcony, while offering an "ocean view" also offered the parking lot of a dumpy apartment building and the trash recepticles of the restaurant across the street. I've had a larger balcony on a cruise shop, but it was what it was.
If bright and new is what you are looking for, stay at the Marriott property down the street. If you are looking for clean, don't have to have a new hotel, and want a fantastic location to a restaurant, a bar, and the beach, this is the place to stay. In spite of its shortcomings, I'll give it 4 stars for it's location and the fact that it was clean and the breakfast was great. « less

Good location, but room was unclean and dangerous to our health. Imagine sleeping in a room very strong bleach odor, watery eyes and hurting nose. If that wasn't enough, woke up to discover we had slept on a soiled/stained pillow. Have sent two e-mail to your company asking for help in getting a refund which the manager agreed will be granted as soon as your company made the request to them. She said this is because the booking was through your company and not directly through the hotel. Please, help as you have failed to respond to both request sent. « less

We appreciate your feed back, and are very sorry your stay was not as you expected. We wish you would have contacted the Front Desk at any point during the evening so we could have had a chance to rectify any deficiencies you experienced, as opposed to just asking for a refund after staying the night. There were quite a few options available, if we had known you were displeased with your room. With that being said, you booked through a third party, and we have not been contacted by them or anyone requesting a refund on your behalf. Your comments about your payment are really addressed to the wrong business. Please contact them so we can get the process rolling.

My best friend and I (late 20's) travel once a year to different locations. This year we landed in Amelia Island, Florida for a work trip. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton for 2 nights and Amelia Hotel at the Beach for 3 nights (April 2013). We did not have a car since we flew into JAX so we thought the hotel was in a good spot. Sliders is a restaurant across the street on the beach and was a nice place to grab a drink or lunch. There is a place close by that rents beach chairs for cheap and there are other restaurants around the hotel which made it easy with no car. The pool isn't very nice at the hotel but we were mainly there for the beach. The room was nice - had a mini fridge and a nice bathroom. We stayed on the back side of the hotel so we didnt have a view. They served chocolate chip cookies every afternoon in the lobby. The breakfast was nice - wasnt the best but it was free. There is a no alcohol rule on the beach so we werent too happy about that. We heard the police wont mess with you if it's hidden in a cup but wouldnt suggest drinking out of cans/bottles. This was an annoyance that will probably keep us from coming back. We knew another couple staying at this hotel and they had problems with their room but I'm unsure what that was all about. I think for the price and location this is a great choice. The staff was super friendly and we didnt have any issues with housekeeping. Let me know if you have any questions! « less

Thank you for your input. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay. The staff really tries to give you the most enjoyable experience. Unfortunately we do not make the laws governing alcohol on the beach, but there are many places where you can sit beachfront and have a cocktail.

Beautiful from the outside, and the location was great. Right across from Sliders seaside restaurant (which we love even more now that it has been remodeled) and the beach! We had a room with a balcony overlooking the street, so it was a bit noisy at night being right at the intersection. The view from the balcony was pretty bad - seeing the back door of Sliders where all the trash piles up - not what I would like to have to look at but thats whats there. The room was ok but needs remodeling. The Wi-Fi didn't work from our room, and when I called about it, the girl just said to come to the lobby where it worked better... WHAT??! The breakfast was in the lobby and sufficient but there wasn't much room to sit. I always like to enjoy a swimming pool but their pool was very basic and small, with no view, located behind the hotel, no shade, no anything but some water so we didn't even use it. We've been to the island many times and usually stay somewhere else but I wanted to try this place, it looked so charming. But we won't be back... « less
