I have been staying at this hotel for 4 months now and it's time for a review.
The rooms are dark and offer views of a parking lot on one side, highway on the other. Must have offered smoking rooms in the past, as half of them have lingering smoke smell. Beds are comfortable, as is the case with all westins. Hot water is a BIG issue - i have run out many times, as have colleagues.
Service staff are friendly but lack training and numbers. Check in takes far longer than it should. They never remember me when i check in, therefore forget about complementary upgrades. Even getting a king bed is a battle - despite platinum status. You can not rely on a room on the executive floors.
They overcharge regularly on the bill for miscellaneous items - movies i didn't order, room service i didn't order, minibar snacks i didn't take. They often forget to email me my bill. They have twice forgotten to check me out, despite going to the desk and requesting this in person.
In summary, it's a fine option for a short stay - but if you're in Detroit on business, i suggest choosing another hotel. « less

I have stayed here about 7 nights from April - May 2013. The hotel is by all means nice enough, with clean rooms and all the usual Westin features. The Starbucks in the lobby is convenient (although somehow manages to be not as good as a "real" Starbucks).
The restaurant menu is limited and a bit expensive, but not vastly different than one would expect at a hotel catering to business clientele.
2 complaints: 1. One morning I received an un-requested 5am wake up call. I work until about 1am and usually get up at 7am so this was pretty annoying. Apparently the front desk had forgotten to remove a previous guest's request. The staff was polite and apologetic when I complained but didn't do anything to make up for it. 2. Parking is a bit confusing and all of the convenient spots are valet only (the valet service is quite fast and attentive, but this would be a hassle if paying for your own trip). « less
