Blake Hotel offers 120 classically-decorated guest rooms, combining modern conveniences with New Orleans "old world" hospitality.
The current building was built during the Louisiana oil boom of the late 70's and early 80's. At the time it housed a branch of the "Bank of Louisiana".
Prior to the building of the hotel, the area was occupied by a row of French Quarter-style townhouses from Poydras to Lafayette Square housing small businesses.

The Blake is a reasonably nice hotel and being just a couple of blocks from the French Quarter, the location wasn't bad. Price is also reasonable. However, service was very poor and our TV only received a couple of local channels. We reported this to the front desk and they assured us they would send maintenance to fix it, but they never showed. Though the price was good, the value just wasn't there and we wouldn't stay here again. « less

When you read the reviews talking about AC noise, picture a jet engine warming up. I finally just slept with earplugs in to not be jolted awake. Service was also extremely spotty- we had to call daily for something that was missed or broken in the room. The bathrooms were not good: slow draining tub, no sink surround, and no long mirror in the place. There's the screws for one on the back of the door, but according to the front desk, they were all removed. I will pay more and stay elsewhere next time. « less

The Blake Hotel is a pleasant restful spot in the heart of New Orleans yet wonderfully away from the crowded noisier streets. This is part of the Ascend collection of the Choice Hotel chain, very unique smaller hotels at very reasonable pricing. Expect a very nice comfortable clean room. Excellent internet service for the business traveler. Nice touches like the lemon ice water in the lobby. You do not need a car however if you have one you will find even pulling up in front of hotel a challenge and will need to have it valet parked at big city cost. The restaurant is not part of the hotel even though attached. I experienced very friendly helpful staff and will keep this as my top choice for downtown New Orleans stays. « less
