This hotel was a deal... The room was very clean but the rooms needed updating. The wallpaper was patched, the carpet was stained, and the shower barely worked. The best was super comfy but it didn't matter because the trains kept me away. I only expected one or two throughout the night but was bad wrong. I will not be staying here again. « less

This is a decent hotel if you're ever in the Ashland area. It's clean and reasonably priced and close to the Huntington airport as well as Ashland, Ky. As with some hotels that hit that 1o year old mark, the rooms start to show some wear and tear. - A side from going up a steep drive way, the one draw back is that it is right beside a train track. They do warn you at the front desk, so be prepared for a train whistle and the noise of the occasional passing train. I have stayed here several times, and will again. « less

I stayed here on business. It was the only place available unfortunately. There was trains coming by every 10 minutes all night long and honking there horns. Followed by the fact that there were beer bottles everywhere out on the balcany people smoking and the smell of marijuana periodically, spiderwebs everywhere, cleaning people were knocking on your door at 6:50 am (shouldnt they wait until closer to check out time or after) I checked in to the hotel at 8:30 and spent the rest of the night on my laptop changing flights, doing reports dealing with other business on the west coast. Also much time on the phone. Turned my TV on the next morning and noticed it was broken So I reported it immediatley and the dump accused me of breaking it and charged my credit card $460.00 this place was pothetic and ran by a bunch of adolesant un professional people. I have sent out a memo to my company of 155 people stating to never stay here again. You would do wise to do the same. « less

I stayed there this past weekend with a few co-workers. This is by far the worst hotel i've ever stayed in. We stay out of town about 150 nights out of the year. The majority of the time we stay at a Holiday Inn. There are several good reasons why this is a waste of money, with out even mentioning the 30 min interval of trains. The check in started out with two rude ladies trying to get the four of us checked in. After check in, the owner told us to not come to breakfast at one time in the morning, because we would cause a line. The signs for breakfast said "hot breakfast". We went down in the morning to find cereal and a lady beside the microwave asking "would you like eggs and sausge", TOO CHEAP to have eggs and sausage on a hot plate setting out, CRAZY!!! You would think they would make an attempt to get their pool fixed, anyone with kids looks for a pool in their hotel decesion. I would have my air condition set at a comfortable level, and when I would return it was almost turned off, ANNOYING!! If this place has to be up to the standards set by Choice Hotels, I'm shocked. My remote didn't work either. Well thats all the bad stuff, now I will list some good items. Close to the jobsite we were working on. All the good hotels were over booked. That is all folks. « less

Could not find another room in the city, or I would have moved out an hour after I got here. The owner is probably the cheapest person I've ever met. I complained about the lack of cold water. None in the shower or the sink. Her solution was to turn on both at the same time and wait for a half an hour! Really? I ended up staying for three weeks. Every day I asked her if she were going to get a plumber...finally she yelled at me and said that she had NO intention of getting the water fixed. The swimming pool (another thing we pay for) has not had water in it the entire time. I asked her about that. She said she has no intention of filling it. They charge your card several days ahead of time and put unnecessary holds on your money. DO NOT authorize them to run your card unless they speak to you first! Apparently counting to 7 is pretty hard for them. MY four year old daughter can do it. I would NOT recommend this hotel to my worst enemy! Not to mention the TRAIN that runs through about every freakin 20 minutes! Try to sleep through that! They make you sign a card when you check in saying that you know about it and won't complain. If there were any other choice in Ashland during my stay I would have taken it. And I do mean ANY! « less
