We stayed at this hotel as an alternative to NYC hotels of $300 and up. And it's near the major highway to where we live. It turned out to be a great decision. An easy drive into Manhattan (except at rush hour) and the hotel was great. The room was spacious with a high ceiling that made it feel even larger (maybe because we were on the ground floor). The reception person was very pleasant and welcoming. The room was spotlessly clean, very nicely appointed, with fridge, microwave, a really good flat screen TV. And we appreciated the multi-outlet unit for recharching electronics that was on the desk. When we came back at night after dinner and a show in the city, there was a tray of good cookies for guests at front desk. Despite being on busy Rt. 17, the place was very quiet and the black-out drapes kept out all light. Breakfast was a full hot meal with eggs, sausage and bacon, waffles, pastries, cereals, hard-boiled eggs, fruit, the works. Not a single negative--a very pleasant experience and a great night's sleep. « less

This is an extremely nice hotel with large rooms. There no amenities, but you get what you pay for. The breakfast was good and never crowded. There is a convenience store adjacent to the property, so you can get bottled water or whatever you need close by. The rooms are very clean. I would suggest you get a room on the top floor. We had kids in the room above us and they sounded like Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom. I don't mind some noise, but not for HOURS on end. I complained to the front desk to no avail. Also check your doors, the doors do not latch closed when you leave. You have to PULL them closed. Housekeeping left our room open twice, who needs a key?? This was also reported to the front desk. Everytime I left or returned, there was a different individual at the front desk, so I know nothing was conveyed to the next person. « less

Finally getting around to writing this review. When I heard a hurricane was predicted for our area, I went on-line to book for a week in case we lost power for a week like last year with Irene. I got a room at the Comfort Suites for $99/night, and felt good about it knowing I could cancel if the hurricane missed us or if the power didn't go out. Well, the hurricane hit hard and we were out of power for 8 days so i spent the wholw week at the hotel. Actually extended for a night. After a week, you get to know a place:
The Good: Rooms are clean and comfortable. Nice size as well. Breakfast served everyday and is good enough. Had hot food every day. Management and staff will work with you. Good place to stay if you need a room in Bergen.
The Bad: Not a quiet location right on the busy highwway. Not an easy to find location. Gettting in and out can be challenging between busy truck stop and highway exits. Room rates doubled when storm hit - - - I paid 99/night when booked on first mention of storm; people coming in when I was there paid 189. Staff a little weird, might have had my first encounter with the famed Jackson Whites for all I know. Management, though accommodating, had that Middle Eastern thing where you read the bill twice before paying. Breakfast not monitored - - - kids and gross people touched too much and breathed on too much for my taste. Work-out facilitiy is a joke. No pool. « less

The area in and outside of New York can be hard to find an affordable but nice/clean hotel. This is it! It is a relatively short drive to the GW bridge making easy access to the City and everything else was great. Comfortable bed, very friendly staff, large room, very clean, good breakfast, easy to find, and affordable. « less
