There were gratuitous amounts of dust everywhere due to the construction taking place in the main atrium. The door to my balcony was left open when I checked in and the noise and cold were excessive. There was no room to eat the complementary breakfast because the adjacent restaurant was also undergoing a renovation. My room at 410 meant that I needed to walk all the way around the building, When I got to the first floor I had to go to the second floor to get access, then down to the first floor for breakfast. There was no room to eat the breakfast and it was cold by the time I made it back to my room. There was no security at the back door - most places have you use your room key to unlock the entrance door - but not here. « less

Not a great experience for me here...
I don't often travel for work on the weekend but happened to this weekend. Having never stayed here, I selected the hotel due to its competitive rate.
As soon as I walked in, I was overwhelmed by the extremely loud music that was coming from a birthday party for a 15 year old. Thinking I'd be able to get away from it, I continued to the registration desk. Not 20 feet from the desk was an additional birthday party with equally loud music.
Keep in mind that it was just about 9:45 PM. I told the supervisor that there was no way that I was going to stay at the hotel with music like that. Although he handled it professionally, it was clear that the party wasn't ending anytime soon. The supervisor attempted to get me another Hilton branded hotel in the area but because the rates were higher than what I was paying to stay here, there was nothing he could do. Long story short, I stayed.
I was irritated to begin with as I had to walk through the opposite end of the hotel, take an elevator, walk across the floor and back down to get registration. This is because they are currently working on the atrium and it's closed off.
When I eventually arrived at registration, there was another customer there attempting to explain that this was the worst hotel etc. He threw his room key on the desk and left.
The breakfast was "ok" but the room in which they served it was disgusting. The carpet is absolutely gross and nobody was keeping up on the cleaning of the tables.
Oh and did I mention the person that knocked on my door and ran quickly into the elevator as soon as I opened the door at about 7:00 AM? I wish I was just joking.
The Good:
-The price. -The staff was very polite and accommodating.
The Bad:
-It's an older hotel and needs work. It's your typical embassy room but it needs a rehab. That's not to say the room wasn't dirty it has just seen better days. -It would seem that they may have parties on the weekend. Because I'm sure they want to maintain this revenue stream, they allow the parties to get out of control. Even if that means offending other customers. -Breakfast area was nasty. -The AC didn't work well at all.
With that said, I will never stay here again. There are far too many options on the area. Hilton and none Hilton. « less

I stayed at the Embassy Suites waterfront May 6-8. They are undergoing construction. I think when it is completed it will be beautiful, but I kinda wodner if they should even take reservations during construction. The pool and jacuzzi was closed for renovations and the normally-beautiful lobby was closed. There was dust all over the railings outside the rooms. They painted - and the fumes were horrific (but at least they disappeared by the end of the night). I did receive free parking for the inconveniences of the renovation.
Aside from the renovations, which I understand are necessary, there was another HUGE problem with their rooms. I booked a nonsmoking king bedroom at the same time as my coworkers. They all received rooms with decent views - I was put in room 311, WHICH WAS AWFUL. It REAKED of cigars. My throat started hurting just within the time it took for me to check everything out. There was a big plate-sized stain on the floor in the bedroom. And the view was of garbage and other buildings. I could've handled the view but not with the nasty stain or smell. So I called the front desk - and they offered Ozone wihich is this little tiny air purifier. I came back after dinner and the purifier seemed to make no difference - my throat still was stinging. So I asked to change rooms. Preferably something with a better view and NO SMELL. I was moved to 836 or something like that, and it was GREAT, except for the fact that housekeeping hadn't completed their cleaning (wine bottle on the counter, sheets in a pile on the floor). So I called again. They put us in room 742, which was great. No stains. No smell. And housekeeping had been there. They gave me a $30 coupon for food, which was nice, and were very understanding the whole time. I just couldn't believe I had to see two rooms that werent up to par before I got the final room. I didnt settle into my room until 8:30! I really think the embassy suites at the waterfront needs to take a little more care with their rooms. The condition mostly. If a room is saturated with cigar smell...an air purifier isnt going to do anything!
The outside area is nice. The dining area has a view of the bay. I definitely think a nice walk along the bay on their walking trail is a nice way to end an evening. They are convenient to downtown San Mateo, Burlingame and even San Francisco Airport and city. Would i stay here again? Maybe. But NEVER during renovations, and I might consider their sister property, the HIlton down the street. « less

Lovely hospitality! I would recommend this location to others. I will return! Even though remodeling was in progress, staff was pleasant and helpful. The location was very useful for the purpose of my visit as well as my husbands. Bay view of the S.F. airport is very relaxing after a hectic business day. Thank you! « less
