I booked this hotel as a Xmas gift for my husband (booked the "Truth" package that included breakfast and a signed basketball from Paul Pierce) - and it did not disappoint!
Location is great, right off of the red line Charles MGH stop and we easily walked to the TD Bank North Garden. The room service menu was awesome (included make your own sundaes!) Unfortunetly their satellite TV service was out for the whole evening we were there but they comped us a movie to make up for it. Great customer service (and a SPG hotel too!)

Let me start by saying the hotel service was exceptional. Starting from the Bellman, through the front desk, and even during a period, service at the bar was excptional. I have no qualms about recommending the hotel.
I know some people like the Back Bay area, this is definitely a bit of a walk to everything, or more like a cab. Its billed as the old Charles Street jail, and th the "jail-ness" is really limited to the lobby, a few iron doors left, and some vintage mug shots...including Old Blue eyes (not from Boston)...so that unique experience is cool, but after w hile, the darkness just seems....dark.
From the lobby you would through a corrridor to the elevator in the high rise where the typical fairly upscal rooms are. So its good, not that convenient, but worth a night. As far as the rest fo the hotel, for the going rate that night of nearly $400 the service was what I would have expected, which by the way was excellent.
There are a lot of options in Boston, so I would look at where you want to spend your evening, there are a lot of other choices in that price range, with service just as good, and locales « less

Booked this hotel a few weeks before travelling to Boston.
The hotel was gorgeous, albeit pricey. We were greeted with sparkling wine and very friendly staff.
Stayed on the 11th floor and unfortunately had a view of the back of the hospital...which in this case was fine as I didn't spend much time In the room.
The lobby is quite the happening night club at night...although didn't like the fact that club goers and hotel guests used the same entrance at night...was quite crowded.
Ate at Clink one night, loved the atmosphere, but my steak was not cooked how I ordered it and the server didn't seem to care. Overall experience was good.
Close to walk to anything and transit right across the street. « less

We spent 3 days in this hotel and, by chance, we took the Marathon´curfew on April 19th, which is my wife's birthday. Luckily, we were in this charming, gorgeous hotel, with a kind, young and impeccable staff.
It is a renovated prison that became a gorgeous boutique hotel. Spacious and comfortable rooms, good value (considering how extorsive Boston is), spectacular location (Charles MGM T station is about 20 steps from the hotel!).
The restaurant Scampo (donwstairs) is very good. I asked a late Ckeckout until 3pm because of my flight and they have granted me with no problems.
Free and good Internet.
I had to use the parking lot for one night. Host a car is almost the price of hosting a guest.
For an unusual circumstance, we were stuck in a prison - and love it! Highly recommended. « less

We just enjoyed another great stay at The Liberty. It's a beautiful hotel that feels intimate yet metropolitan at the same time. We had a tower room which was very comfortable. The only thing lacking was a view. Great service throughout! « less
