I decided to stay at the Embassy Suites for a meeting at the convention center because it was the "official" show hotel and because I love the Embassy Suites in Denver.
Rosemont, on the other hand, is a whole different story.
The hotel is clearly dated. Checking in on a Monday night I immediately noticed a tired look from entrance to front desk, lobby and lounge.
No worries, get my room keys and head to my 2nd floor room, which is actually surrounding the breakfast/ happy hour lounge floor. Got into the room and it had a 6 person conference table in the living room. I appreciate that Embassy offers two room suites in it's locations but unless i request it I certainly don't want a conference room in my living area.
Added to the initial frustration the room smelled like a combination of wet carpet and a musky smoke- horrible- literally not a habitable accommodation.
Went to the desk to ask for a new room and was told that because I prepaid through Hilton I could not change rooms without being charged twice. This seemed frustrating, which I expressed and the manager who offered us a drink in the bar while he figured it out.
In about 20 minutes the manager was able to move our room and offered complimentary internet for the frustration.
New room was okay at best but didn't smell. The room configuration is strange, double doors on every room, very old bathrooms but kind of kept up I suppose. It wasn't awful but for at $179 in a mediocre market it seemed like a rip off. They seem to rely on being an "all suite" hotel as a justification of their rate in the market but as a business traveler, as I imagine 90% of the market is, I would much rather stay in a smaller, nicer, cleaner room at the same rate rather than have the "Suite" amenity. The neighboring hotels looked much nicer- also Hilton properties interestingly enough.
As the stay progressed I suppose everything was fine but certainly not nice. The bar/lounge is mediocre at best. The elevators are so slow it is almost funny. Some of the staff are nice but you can tell even they think the hotel is sub par- it's not the staff's fault- most of them are pretty good but the physical plant really is awful and they know it. « less

We have stayed at Embassy Suites with our young children before because the 2 room suite option allows our kids to take a nap while we sit in the living area. We stayed in a king bed suite with the plan that the kids would sleep on the sofa bed. However, in the sitting area you could hear all of the people in the hotel lobby area and it was too loud for the kids to fall asleep at 8pm. The pool was freezing cold. Otherwise, we were very happy. The area was very nice to visit. We saw a show at the Rosemont theater which was 1 block away. « less

The bar tender was very energetic and more than helpful in even selection of the vast family of drinks. It is very close to the international airport. I could reach comfortably even at 12 AM. I strongly recommend for leisure trip / business visit. « less

We missed our connecting flight to Asia due to bad rainstorms in Chicago. So we had to overnight and the rooms closest to O'Hare were already booked. But i took a chance and called Embassy Suites Rosemont from an airport kiosk and was told there was a cancellation and could give us a room at $189. We took the hotel shuttle, checked-in, had cocktails and dinner, etc. Rooms and common areas were quite nice. Restaurant food was better than expected. However when we received the bill under our door the next morning, the rate was $259! I called downstairs and was told that $189 was impossible as $259 was the rate quoted yesterday. We were so angry about missing our flight and anxious just to get to the airport early to get on our revised flight that i had no time to argue but DID voice my displeasure. When i arraive in Hong Kong, I received a "survey" about my stay and I voiced my displeasure. Within a few hours, the hotel management emailed me a revised bill with a credit. In this day and age, I thought that was admirable! I will certainly lean towards booking Hiltons going forward! « less
