The Sheraton Santa Monica is just a few blocks away from the beach, the Pier and the shopping and an easy walk. I know, walking in LA is strange but I believe it is acceptable in Santa Monica near the beach. The hotel is as advertised and a comfortable place to stay with big rooms. As I mentioned you can drive or walk to areas that have some great restaurants and shopping and there is the beach too. « less

This hotel was built in the 80's and it is showing its age. There has been a renovation of the surface materials, but the bathrooms and a/c units show their age.
We were first offered a room that had a very strong odor, probably mold. The a/c unit was fiull of white lint-like stuff. We switched rooms and received a decent one. Unfortunately, the bathroom is tiny even by European standards, and the bathtub looks very old and tired.
The Club level is something to be avoided at this hotel, as it definitively is not worth the money. Club lounge is a small room downstairs seating about 10 people. We first visited in the afternoon and all they had was tea, coffee, cranola bars and yogurt (no drinks, except bottled water). They call this "all day snacks". At breakfast the place was overpacked and the did not have much to offer, only bagels, bread, porridge and cereal. I would describe this as what most 4-5 star hotels would have as their breakfast to go next to the check-in counter. We asked if we could have decent breakfast at hotel restaurant, but this would cost extra. In most places we have visited, if you are at club room, you can choose between club breakfast and normal breakfast.
One final word of advise: they offer you valet parking at $25 per night. Self parking is free and the parking garage is right next to the entrance - you have about 20 yard walk.
To sum up, it is an old property showing its age. They have done little to redecorate, but it is not worth what they are asking for. « less

Stay club well worth it....well placed,walking distance to beach,close to shopping areas, on being pedestrian only. It's a busy city and to get anywhere you need a car,but don't be in a hurry...traffic a nightmare at times. The staff here are helpful and its nice to get their opinions on where to visit, shop ,eat.
The food in the hotel is very nice. Not a massive choice but what they do they do reasonably well. « less

We stayed here as part of a two week trip around California. We started with Sheraton Delfina as we wanted to show our 9 year old a a bit of Hollywood glamour. She thought this hotel was amazing, so did we. The lobby seating area and bar is beautiful and you are really wowed when you walk in. Just what you need after a 12 hour flight. Do make sure with parking that you self park as this is free, if the valet parks your car, if will cost about $25 or more a night. Early morning good time to re-park your car. Unknowingly we thought valet was all part of the service! When you arrive take advantage of the hotel points system used within their chain as this allowed 10% off bar drinks and food. Pool very luxurious like something from a movie, daughter loved, service very good, decoration and fittings really very good. Everywhere you turn you are wowed really. Well you are if you don't normally stay in top class hotels. Hotel room perfect for us, tiny little balcony but we had view of mountains and sunsets great. Walk to beach at 5am when no one is about, we had jet lag, but we felt liked we owned the beach! Would definitely return to this hotel. I do think the exterior doesn't compliment the interior of this hotel, when we first arrived we thought it was a car park! strange design from outside. Sad concrete. Inside is gorgeous. « less
