I stayed here in mid-April for one night for the Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington DC. This hotel is a fairly quick ride from DC if you are looking for an less expensive option over staying in the DC city center. The hotel is beautiful and the town surrounding it is very cute and family friendly. As s Starwood member, we were upgraded to a room with a harbour view. This is very much worth it. Definitely upgrade if you can. The hotel itself was well maintained. The pool, however, was freezing cold. No temperature control at all. The town has lots of little boutiques, and restaurants. There's a children's museum not far from there and a parking lot about a block and a half from the hotel (I believe parking at the hotel is $30-40 a night.) Knocking off a star on this place because I had a question about a charge on my bill and after numerous calls to the hotel's billing person, no response. Not the type of customer experience I would expect from a Westin. « less

We stayed in room 539. Had a decent partial view of the Harbor. Nice room. But there was a pair of red shoes left in the room, which leads me to believe the room was not cleaned very well. We had a couple of drinks at he hotel bar. I had the 1/2 dozen oysters. They were not shucked correctly. would probably stay there again. Again the price was pretty decent. « less

A friend and I went to a workshop recently at the National Harbor. We decided to stay there instead of communting back and forth. We booked our stay at the Westin through a discount online service. When we called them to confirm our room, we asked for two double beds. You would have thought that we asked for a fruit basket and champagne! They were very rude and told us that since we were not full paying guests we could not possibly expect to ask for special service. Finally they agreed to the double beds -- however, our view was horrible! We looked out on the airconditioner compressors for the entire hotel. The staff was not helpful at all. Very disappointing service -- I am actually embarrassed that people would come to DC and return to their home after such a bad experience. « less

I don't understand how some people rate this as good. This place is incredibly overpriced, EVERYTHING is extra. Internet, valet parking, breakfast, even the water in the room. Did I say breakfast? Oh yeah, how about 4 dollars for a cup of tea? Tea for two, 8 bucks. Wow. About the only thing free is a shuttle service to the nearest subway station. Don't expect to get on though on a busy event: the shuttle holds about 3 people and the line was about 20 people, so we ended up taking a cab because, the shuttle only runs once per hour! Useless! After our first night we came back and our room was a mess. Because the staff doesn't speak english, we couldn't tell the house keeper to come back later. I suppose she understood that we were going to do it ourselves. Expect super 8, for a premium fee! Your better off staying in town, near a subway station. One more thing before I go, the beds: The Westin is supposedly knows for their "heavenly"beds. Not here. Hard bed with cheap sheets. « less

Thank you for your review. It will be discussed along with the others at our Customer Care meeting. Some hotels do provide different ammenities with their rate such as complimentary breakfast and internet. Others, such as the Westin offer things such as a full service a la carte restaurant, room service, a cocktail lounge, Bellman and valet service at an additional fee to those who wish to stay at a hotel with those services. There is complimentary internet service in the lobby area for all guests. The complimentary shuttle, provided by the National Harbor is a 24 passenger van that departs every hour for the METRO. All of this information can be found on the hotel website so as to infor guests of the potential expenditures thsy might expect to pay, should they choose to stay with us. It is truly unfortunate you did not enjoy the beds, as most of our guests do. IWe wish you a better experience the next time you stay with us, or someone else.
