Check in was fine, the room was large and nice and comfortable but the breakfast staff were "special". There was no one else in the breakfast room and the breakfast itself was at best poor and basic. Dry cereal, hard boiled eggs, toast, containers of jam/peanut butter, bananas. OK, that's not so bad. There were two loaves of bread, one of which looked far more interesting than the other, however, only the crusts remained. My wife asked if there was another loaf of bread and the staff took time off from their loud and obnoxious talking that was filling the room with their voices, to tell us that there was no other bread, then back to making noise. At that point one of the two workers made herself something to eat and ate it on the counter where guests were supposed to prepare their breakfasts. I ate an egg and we left for Starbucks for real coffee rather than tepid brown water. « less

Needed directions and called for 2 hrs and phone was never picked up. According to front desk, she was walking around because there hardly any guest...No reasons to ask why....

She showed an I don't care attitude and didn't even bother to apologize. Next day we come to our room, extremely tired from our day at Disney and our keys were deactivated!!! We had to get back in our car with 3 sleeping kids, bags and go to the front desk. "Oh, yeah, sometimes you have to re register the next day". No apologie and an I don't care attitude. Breakfast was extremely basic and rooms look cheap. Will NEVER stay here again!!!! « less

This was our third trip to California in the last year. I was a little skeptical when booking at this motel however due to having to travel during high season and already paying double for airline tickets we wanted to save money on the hotel so we picked this hotel as it had great rates.
We were there from March 26 to April 2 - we checked in very easily at 9pm by a very nice and friendly front desk. We went to our room and expecting the worst (based on all the negative reviews here). We went in (hubby, me and 5 year old daughter and 3 year old son), there was noooo smell (i heard a lot of reviews here complaining about some type of smell). It was a great room on the first floor close ot everything! The room was exceptionally clean, yes the carpets are old but honestly just get flip flops to wear inside the hotel if you're so worried about it. The room was very clean, and lots of room, we had double beds which we ended up moving and placing together to make a huge king size bed for us and the kids so they dont fall of the beds. Sheets were clean, pillows were good, room had alarm clock, coffee maker, iron, lots of drawers and closet space, very clean mini fridge and microwave, hair dryer. Bathroom was soooo clean, i would have to say the tub was cleaner than my own house tub!!! Me and hubby couldnt be more happier as we expected so bad and it was by far one of the cleanest hotels we've been to.
The people are so friendly as well, always helpful and very nice. The lady in the lunchroom was very kind and asked if we needed anything before she closed the door to the eating area for closing time.
Breakfast: BEST BREAKFAST!! muffins (blueberry, sesame, marble, etc), croissangs, toast, jam, peanut butter, cream cheese, eggs, banana, two different types of juice, coffee, tea, oatmal, MILK, 4 different types of cereal (including fruitloops, cornflake and 2 others), comes with cups, plates, bowls, spoons etc! we ate so much for breakfast. It is open until 9:30am, dont remember what time it opens. Very clean eating area as well. Free continental breakfast is the best!
Swimming pool: very clean, however didnt use it as the weather was a little chilly for us to enjoy outdoor pool
Parking: safe, there is survelllence videos everywhere, free parking
Staff: very nice and friendly
Location: its far from disneyland however we weren't intending to go to disneyland this time so this location was the best for us as it was close to everything else and everywhere else that we wanted to visit. Its less than 30 minutes to beach Newport Beach - balboa island, amazing and mvery beautiful.
Hotel itself is very pretty, lots of flowers, mountain view, near walking bridge, restaurants, pharmacy, etc....
I will definetely come here with my family again - it was the best and the free breakfast is a plus. Place is super clean, we had cleaning lady EVERYDAY. There was one day I told her she didnt have to clean as i had already did the beds and we had barely used the room but she still came in and cahnged all the towels and cleaned the bathroom, took out the garbage, refilled the kleenex and soaps/shampoo.
Im already planning another trip and we will definetely stay here! very good rate, great location, wonderful staff, CLEAN SUPER CLEAN, great breakfast, nice people (all the people who stayed here were family/couples, very nice and friendly).
Also AC was working fine, no noise, fridge and microwave worked excellent, very clean, no noise, no leaking. Also there is an indoor gym and indoor pool (unsure if its a sauna) dont have much info as we didnt use this.

We spend a seven days at this hotel. It was pleasure and great services from this hotel. Room rate is better than other hotels that we were staying before. Staffs are very friendly and nice, great services, beautiful location, close to freeway, close to shopping area, great continental breakfest. Overall, our family were very happy to stay in this hotel, so we are going to come back on April for another seven days in this hotel. « less

My wife booked this due to the price on a website, and was a little worried once she read the reviews. We spent a week sleeping in hotels over the summer, and they ran the spectrum, but none of them were terrible. I would rate this one on the good side overall.
First of all, we had two rooms, side-by-side (142-143). We were quite pleased that the noise from the highway and nearby roads was not terrible. Plus, both rooms were quite clean. The worst I could say was that there was some rust on the door frame near the shower, but since this isn't a brand-new, four-star property, I don't expect it to be perfect.
The Continental Breakfast was good enough; I've had better, and I've had worse. Anytime breakfast is included, I don't expect it to be great. It was passable, and the staff in the breakfast room was friendly. It was just kind of confusing to find the dining area.
All in all, we would stay here again. We found none of the issues addressed in the previous reviews, so we wonder if they've upgraded the hotel, or if the competition is trying to paint things in a bad light. It was a decent hotel at a decent price. « less
