I am a retired Chief Petty Officer who spent 20 years and 8 months serving in the United States Navy, 3 of those years as a "drill instructor", or Recruit Division Commander, as we say. My wife is a physical therapist who practices her profession with great skill and thoughtful kindness. Our two wonderful daughters are diligent, hardworking students who attend pre-school and 2nd grade, with great zeal and an insatiable thirst for knowledge...if I do say so myself...lol !!!
I share this with you because I know that I appreciate the maximum amount of awareness concerning the individuals whose reviews I read. Credibility and respect are sadly lacking, in my opinion, in the world we live in and have created for our children.
Lol...as a qualified...small arms instructor...in my past life...let's just say...I have the definition of deadly force memorized and appreciate the sad fact that it is so very necessary to be able to competently protect one's family...lol!
I am also 49 years old and currently experiencing shall we say "The Male Equivalent of the Change of Life"...lol!!! I share this with you to beg your patience as you read this. Trust me please...lol...with the testosterone patch...it's becoming a great change...lol!!!
During my career, my family and I have been blessed to travel all over the world and stay in some of the finest hotels that mankind has ever created...lol...not always easy on an enlisted man's salary...lol!
That being said, Candlewood Suites Melbourne, under the general management of Mr. Nick Ramehndani, ranks at the very top of our temporary lodging experiences!
Why?
Simple really, the superb staff, on a daily basis, demonstrate two, I believe, very essential characteristics:
Attention to Detail (Extremely Well Maintained Property)
Kindness (The Language the Deaf Can Hear and the Blind Can See...Mark Twain)
Not rocket science...simply adherence to standards, kindly enforced, which then becomes a paradigm of amazing VALUE!!!
USA is truly #1...in so many important ways. We all know though, or should know, that unless we take immediate, appropriate, and, I believe, above all respectful corrective action, we are simply deluding ourselves as a people.
My world travels have, I once again believe, provided me with an authentic appreciation and respectful admiration for the United States of America, as well as, a tremendous respect for all of my fellow earthly citizens. Can you tell that I am a BIG Star Trek fan...lol!
When you arrive at Candlewood Suites Melbourne, you will not, I'm sure, be shocked to discover that it is not the Waldorf Astoria in New York City, nor the Ritz in Paris.
What it is, indeed, is a hotel which thoroughly demonstrates one simple, yet often times ignored quality:
RESPECT!!!
It is a hotel which respects itself, and therefore, MUST and DOES render RESPECT to it's visitors!
Simple...Honest...No BS !!!
What do I believe allows this to occur? INSPIRED LEADERSHIP!
The general manager, Mr. Nick Ramehndani, as a young man, as well as today, has been greatly influenced by a true American hero, CMD SGT MAJ Gordon Petro, United States Army (Ret). This man, who was a prisoner of war during the Korean Conflict, and then rose to the highest levels of the enlisted corps of our great military, was when I was deeply honored to meet him in his 80s. This incredible man who had sacrificed everything for his country but the ultimate price, was the human embodiment of respect and kindness, not self-centered arrogance and ego.
How very rare this is today and I am still profoundly inspired and humbled by being fortunate enough to meet him. (Can't wait to return and tell him so!)
As any good leader should know, and Mr. Ramehndani, does know, (I asked his amazing staff), a good leader is absolutely nothing but for the people they lead. With this in mind, I must now shout out, with the greatest of desire that I do not miss anyone, his command members, so to speak...lol!!!
Much respect and thanks to the following staff members: Sue (management) Bill (maintenance) Shani (management) Angela (front desk or management? She was nice enough to provide me with first names) Cherokee (housekeeping...so very important to successful impression building) Tee (housekeeping) Joanne (housekeeping) Fred (Director of Sales) and last but definitely not least, as I was told, he, more times than not, goes above and beyond...accomplishing a variety of tasks. Nicholas (All Around Good Guy...lol!!!)
So, I will end with a very traditional military courtesy...The Salute...
To the incredible staff of Candlewood Suites, Melbourne, Florida, I salute you, for the people you are, and what you do everyday...Bravo Zulu!!! My family and I shall return...lol...to badly quote, General Douglas MacArthur...lol!!!
To all of you who have been patient enough to get this far...I salute YOU...for your obviously demonstrated morbid curiosity and superior intellect...lol!!!

The staff at this hotel is very friendly and competent. They get five stars.
The common areas, such as the lobby, are minimally appointed and not very appealing, but the rooms and other useful facilities are good and a good value for the price.

They provided a crib and are a pet friendly hotel with seemingly no weight limit. The room was updated and clean. It would be nice if they built a pool one day. The snack bar has a variety if items for sale plus complimentary coffee and tea. I will agree that even though the 4th floor is apparently smoke-free, the halls smell of smoke. The biggest compliments to the staff , housekeeping as well as guest services desk. We frequent the area to go to the Air Force base and they have been the most accommodating even allowing us to have a late check out Sunday evening for a fair fee. Good job! « less
